Beware the cancellation fine print!
All had gone well for almost 5 years.. Reasonable-ish rates, no claims.. so in uneventful insurance terms basically they took my money, and I asked for nothing in return. I noticed (4 days past my renewal) that my rates had increased 25% from last year. I hadn't received any notification of this, I just happened to notice. I'm told that to cancel in 2 weeks time (time to make other arrangements with another company) it will cost some amount $150 over a monthly premium in 'cancellation fees' for just 14 days of coverage. I have so many questions. Is an email legally sufficient notification when such a large rate increase in being communicated? I do not have the email. E-mails are not 100% guaranteed delivery. In any case, the entire interaction I had with them over this cancellation thing screamed we're taking your money no matter what. I'm going to eat the cost, and never return. Reply to Sonnet response. The copy paste reply from other negative reviews is touching. The fact you simply don't care shines through clearly. Had I received such a notification, I would have cancelled much sooner. I have already been in touch with the chat agents, who loosely told me to go pound sand - tough luck. Oh and for fun here's the explanation for the higher rates. Almost 30% increases in a year. Good luck out there folks. Fun reading! We filed for rate increases for the past year in Ontario for Auto policies, and they were indeed approved. There was one in April 23, increase by roughly 15%, thereafter in June 23, around 7% and then in November 23, approximately 5% 09:43:16 am EST: Karan: On average, the approved rate increase was around 27%. What to expect
I felt the claim review process took an extended length of time during the year end holiday period which is why I am providing a four vs. a five. The customer service phone connection was easy to use as was email communications and the upload of PDF materials. Explaination of benefits were clear and payment/reimbursements we fast!

No Hassle Efficient claims
I have claimed 2 times for my French Bulldog in the last 3 years. Both times I submitted the claims were reimbursed extremely fast. The first time our dog was suffering with pancreatitis. Sent off $1200 with all the appropriate documentation fro our usual vet and was reimbursed with no issues what so ever within a week. Just had another very large claim Dec2023. Total was over $12k due to emergency cervical spine disc removal (IVDD) at an emergency hospital by a team of veterinary neurologists. Again I submitted all supporting documents and within a week I was reimbursed the amount based off my policy limits and deductibles. No hassle no problems. My monthly premium is not outrageous and have never had any trouble at all with my Pets Plus coverage. I would absolutely recommend them.
