Overpriced insurance with little return for your money
Here's what you should know, Trupanion is catastrophic insurance only. In other words the only time you would use it is if something very serious happens to your dog. Other insurance companies have plans that cover the partial costs (They don't cover the total costs but what they do allow helps a lot) of office visits, vaccines, teeth cleaning and acute illnesses like vomiting/diarrhea, etc. Trupanion covers none of that. While Trupanion covered nothing for me they did raise my premium close to 30% in less than a year. Simply unacceptable My sister-in-law purchased insurance from another company. (I now have insurance with them) Our premiums are less and our coverage is better. They partially cover office visits, a biopsy, vaccinations, teeth cleaning etc... All the things a dog requires to stay healthy. Again, Trupanion covers none of that. They tried to convince me that should something happen other companies have a cap and they don't and that's why I should stay with them. My new pet insurance covers up to $20,000 annually. Bottom line is there is better coverage for your dog out there for less money.

Spot Pet Insurance is a blessing
Spot Pet Insurance is amazing for fast claims processing and payments. We are going through an extremely stressful time as our three year old Corgi has been diagnosed with lymphoma. Not having to worry about paying the bills from the Veterinarian makes having pet insurance a blessing.

Was easy to sign up and less expensive than other pet insurers. Have not used it yet, so can't say how fast they reimburse.

Worst experience and unprofessional…
Jan 11, 2024 update. Issue escalated to someone higher that also has taken over 5 days to reach out. What's the point? Just validating my review even further, sadly. UpdateJan 2, 2024 Update. Sent contact as their reply requested and 6 day's later... Nothing! Just a corporate ploy to make review reader's think they care and want to resolve an issue. It's the trap I thought it would be. This review has been validated--> Worst experience and unprofessional staff ever experienced. 4 days to recieve 1st call after reporting. Adjuster declares findings with only other parties info, asks nothing of me like dashcam footage (which I have) or any other information about how the other driver was operating their vehicle. My son (the driver) was not officially charged and only verbally cautioned to be aware of other driver's lack of legal knowledge on how to operate a vehicle (although somehow passed their driver's test). Stuck with the towing and now storage fees because of their overly delayed response time and lack of communication. Not worth the tiny savings!! Beware this company and choose anyone else but. I know we all think of insurance as a scam when we need them after paying their over inflated premiums every month, but this experience takes the cake!

Spot Pet insurance is doing pretty well once you get started with them. I will complain though I never got my policy in the mail. I called and asked for one to be sent out to me and they said NO!!!!!!

What? No coverage for nutritional consults to address life-threatening disease?
That you don’t cover nutrition as an essential part of a dog’s health when considered in the context of alleviating life-threatening illness is appalling. My 12-year old female terrier mix has IBD, a life-threatening, incurable condition that must be carefully controlled through dietary modifications. My veterinarian/nutritionist herself has had many an argument with insurance companies over the failure of coverage for such procedures.
