Frustrating experience for one of our pets despite years of coverage

We’ve had MetLife Pet Insurance for our three pets for several years. Our dogs’ claims have been fairly standard, and the new website is an improvement that makes tracking submissions a little easier. Unfortunately, our experience with our cat has been extremely frustrating. Despite multiple veterinary evaluations confirming his issues are not chronic, MetLife continues to classify them as chronic and pre-existing to avoid coverage. We have not received reimbursement for any of his conditions and are now working with the California Department of Insurance to resolve the matter. MetLife has even gone as far as denying coverage for a medication that is not directly associated with the condition they labeled as chronic. MetLife can and should do better in providing fair and transparent coverage for pet parents who have medical documentation to support their claims.

Crucial as your pets age.

My little boys, Stewie and Shane, father and son Chinese Crested's were covered with Pet's Best the majority of their lives. As they got older the medical bills increased as they tend to do. Medications and medical procedures became a part of life and that is when Pet's Best truly showed its value. Other pet parents and veterinarians highly recommended Pet's Best when I asked around about pet insurance and now I know why. You can tailor the coverage and deductibles that are right for your finances and when you actually have to use it the claims process is very straightforward through your Pet's Best account online, and the customer phone support people couldn't be more caring, helpful, empathetic and knowledgeable. Stewie and Shane have passed over the rainbow bridge, and while I am crushed emotionally, Pet's Best has made the financial part much less crushing. I will recommend this company to all pet parents for the rest of my life.

Don't Bother! They wont cover whatever it is...

They look for every excuse not the cover your pet! Unless you get their insurance when your pet is a newborn and has absolutely nothing wrong with them, everything is considered a pre-existing condition not covered by them unless it is 'resolved' first. My cat has a heart murmur, likely her whole life and super common in cats, and because a murmur is not curable, no vet visits or treatments to do with the murmur or checkups for the murmur are covered. I have been paying for a service I cannot use, and they refuse to provide a refund. I do NOT recommend this insurance UNLESS you only use it for very basic services on a perfectly healthy animal with 0 conditions prior to it being born.

Constantly raising premiums, slow and not so great customer service

Your Pet Insurance is terrible. Every year you bump up my premiums by like at least $70, and your customer service is bad. Sometimes it takes weeks to process a claim, which is the same claim I submit every 50 days for my dogs heart medication. It takes weeks for your team to send the reimbursement check. Earlier this year, I had a claim that got processed and Explanation of Benefits wasn't generated, and I never got a reimbursement check, and I had to call back every 3 weeks asking why my check hadn't been received. Fortunately after the 3rd customer service person, they were able to identify it was because my Explanation of Benefits was never generated by your system, so the previous people I talked to didn't catch that and kept telling me my check was in the mail. I also one time had a claim that was resolved pretty quickly actually, however after it was resolved it said I'd receive $0 even though my deductible had been met and I should have received $167, so again I had to call your customer service to fix it. For the price I pay, and the fact you continue to raise my premiums year after year by a ridiculous amount of money, it takes forever for your team to process a claim and get me my reimbursement checks.
