IT WAS A ROCKY BEGINNING
IT WAS A ROCKY BEGINNING. UPLOADS DIDN'T MAKE IT TO BILLING, TOOK FOREVER FOR YOU TO CONTACT THE VET,AND OFTEN DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. BUT LUCKILY THAT HAS ALL BEEN RESOLVED, AND IT IS SMOOTH SAILING NOW, FROM SUBMISSION OF CLAIM, TO REVIEW AND PAYMENT; A BREEZE!

Extremely pleased with Health Paws
I bought Healthy Paws when my dog was between 1 and 2 years. He was just shy of 10 years when he was diagnosed with 2 types of cancer, needed surgery and chemo and was given 2 to 6 mo to live if untreated. Thanks to my policy, my dog is still with me and turns 12 next month. I don't know how I ever could have afforded all the treatment and ongoing followup visits and medications on my own. Healthy Paws has never given me problems and the turnaround on payout is super fast. I have the 90% reimbursement policy.

Avoids paying legitimate claims at all costs
ASPCA - it’s amazing that I don’t get responses to my emails, but the same day, I got your attention and responses when I wrote reviews. Don’t write me canned responses that require me to call you AGAIN. I have already called many times and emailed. And you did nothing. You have everything at your fingertips to fix this. You have my name. Fix it. You know the claim should be paid. Pay it. Respond to my emails. Process the claim. Do NOT treat me like a fool and tell me to call you because you want to resolve this for me after I called you so many times and you promised the claim will be reopened and paid and then you don’t do anything. My review: ASPCA will do everything to get out of paying and dump you on their underwriter, Hartville, that just gives you a run around. They hassle me and avoid properly processing and paying the claim. I submitted a claim and accidentally included the invoice and not the receipt that I paid the vet. They processed the claim and sent an email notifying the claim was completed. Months later, I accidentally learned that they denied the claim because the service was “not eligible.” I called and was told It is eligible, but they just needed the receipt of payment. It’s beyond me why they didn’t notify they needed additional documents, they just sent this email that is clearly meant to mislead. I called twice and they finally understood the problem and they asked me to email the receipt directly and they will fix the claim. I did and was they responded the format is wrong. I called them again. Resent the receipt. They said they have everything they need and the claim will be processed and if they need they can always get the information directly from the vet. Silence. I email back for an update. Silence. I respond again. Silence. Claim is unpaid and appears the same status’s completed and unpaid. I call back and learn they still never reopened the claim. I was told it was reopened (for the third time they say they will now process). Guess what. Nothing. I emailed multiple times and they never respond. They never bothered processing or making the payment for a legitimate claim that they owe me for. Their rates were reasonable at the beginning then they raised them 2.5 times with no notice or explanation. I have been paying their exuberant rates for years and now they do everything they can to not pay the claim. I don’t even know what to do. The next step, filing complaints against them. I would stay away. It’s a nightmare and they will make you jump through ridiculous hoops to not even bother paying you.

Long Time and Loyal Customer Cancelling
I have been a very long time and loyal customer of ASPCA Pet health Insurance. Back in the early days 10 plus years ago, I raved about the benefits, the premium, and the customer service. While I do believe the customer service representatives are excellent- I now feel the coverage has declined and the costs have become too high. I have 3 dogs, and in the last 6 months- not $1 has been reimbursed-even if my dog developed a rash from something- if he had a rash 5 years ago for something completely unrelated- they will decline the coverage. They even declined the coverage for a torn ACL on the right hind leg because of an old injury my dog had on the left hind leg!
