Absolutely excellent response to claim…

Absolutely excellent response to claim submission. Our dog has had recurrent UTIs. The claim submission process is quick and very easy. Claims are processed very quickly and refunds issued within a week. Couldn't ask for better service!

Misleading Coverage & Denied Claims – Spot Pet Insurance is a Scam!

I signed up for Spot Pet Insurance believing it would provide financial protection for my Persian cat, Cyrus, in case of accidents or illnesses. However, my experience has been nothing short of frustrating, misleading, and an absolute waste of money. 1. Denied Coverage for an Accident Cyrus accidentally ingested a vitamin D capsule during the grace period, resulting in an ER visit ($190) and a follow-up visit to a new vet ($368.56). I was explicitly told by Spot Pet Insurance that as long as the accident/illness did not reoccur within 180 days, it would be covered. Surprise! When I submitted the claims, they were denied. When I called for clarification, a rep told me I needed to take him back to the vet after December 25, 2024 (180 days later) and refile a claim ONLY with a new receipt—none of the previous expenses would be covered. That is NOT what I was originally told. 2. Denied a Legitimate Claim for No Reason I also submitted a $170 claim from September 4, 2024 for an unrelated visit—this was AFTER the grace period ended, while my pet was covered. Spot denied it because Cyrus had diarrhea in June before my policy started and claimed it was a pre-existing condition. What?! Diarrhea is an acute, common issue in pets, NOT a chronic condition. Spot Pet Insurance is clearly finding loopholes to deny coverage for anything and everything. If a pet ever has an upset stomach in its lifetime, does that mean Spot will never cover GI issues again? This logic is completely absurd. 3. A Complete Waste of Money I have paid over $400 in premiums, and was only reeimbursed $15 for pink eye illness. Spot Pet Insurance is essentially worthless—what’s the point of having pet insurance if they refuse to cover even basic claims? Their lack of transparency and deceptive denial tactics are shady and unethical. Final Verdict Do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from Spot Pet Insurance. Their policies are misleading, their customer service gives contradictory information, and they will find any excuse to deny your claim. Beware before signing up – you are better off saving your money than trusting Spot Pet Insurance!

Good, but could be much better

I dealt with 2 agents. I signed on to chat through my account. The first agent said that she hoped my cat was doing fine. If they had looked at my account they would have know that my cat had been euthanized. Awkward. It is very difficult to do this typing. The links that you provided to an explanation of benefits did not work. Although I had been told my case was closed, I had an invoice that said it was partially approved, but did not give a dollar amount. Of course this necessitated following up. I was directed to where I could “speak” with someone, but all of the prompts ended in recordings. I had to go back to the chat option. This time I got Russell, who was excellent and answered all my questions entirely and sent me copies of the explanation of benefits as a pdf so that I could finally access them. I felt your settlement was very fair. But this whole process took over an hour. Your links didn’t work. The first agent had no idea about my case, although she knew who I was. I was directed to speak to someone, but ended up at several dead end recordings. There was no one I could speak with. I ended up typing everything, although I have arthritis and typing rapidly (as on a chat) is very difficult for me. So, whereas the end result was excellent, the experience was lacking, except 40 minutes into the process when I finally got ahold of Russell, who knew what to do.

Great coverage for a reasonable price.

I have 4 pets with Nationwide insurance. It’s great coverage for a reasonable price. Everything can be accessed online, but the application kept returning to the beginning without notice of a problem. However, completing the application is worth it.
