Focus on My Pet’s Needs

I absolutely trust Trupanion for my pet insurance needs. When my pet is sick, the last thing I want to worry about is the vet cost. With Trupanion I was able to focus on my pet’s recovery.

Amy was very helpful.

Amy was very helpful. We have been very pleased with Trupanion throughout the life of our beautiful Shepherd who has now gone peacefully after a long bout with hip issues. While it has been difficult, Trupanion has been there for us.

We have used many pet insurance companies. Healthy Paws is the best, most professional of all.

This is the best coverage, honorable, timely, reliable and monthly premiums fairly priced. The customer service agents very informed and sensitive. Our Cooper would not be alive had we not had Healthy Paws Insurance.

Best pet insurance around!

Healthy Paws has an app that lets you take a snapshot of the medical bill and submit. It is a very uncomplicated process and the claim is turned around quickly. One time I didn’t provide enough information and Healthy Paws contacted my vets office without bothering me. They also follow-up to see how your pet is doing.

Quick to Judge, Yet Just as Quick to Set Things Right

I have had Embrace only a few short months and really put them through their paces with lots of questions before I signed up, all of which were answered both timely and completely by their representative responding over email. That gave me confidence that they were a company that put their insured pups, so on, first. However, following my pup’s initial exam our vet disclosed to Embrace the discovery of a typical (e.g. associated with pups) mass on the top of her head, a histiocytoma, which they explained would exclude her from being covered for all cancers in the future. I was aghast at that prospect and was on the verge of dropping Embrace totally. Until they let me know and then allowed our vet to write an appeal letter for the mass to explain further that in her opinion it was not cancer when she first evaluated it and would not turn into cancer in the future and, in fact, four weeks later it had resolved itself completely. Approximately one week later Embrace came back with some modification on future masses where they would no longer treat/equate future histiocytomas with masses later identified as cancer So while our pups’ future histiocytomas would be treated as pre-existing, they would no longer exclude any future masses, cancerous or otherwise, from being covered by our policy. To be sure this was a relief. So, a mixed score for my relationship with Embrace so far that is, as they were quick to judge the type of skin mass they would not cover in the future (somehow equating it with cancer, where there had been no such proof of this at all), yet just as quick to take up my appeal and grant some relief, modification of our coverage and a detailed explanation of how and why to accompany their decision back to me. So, take from that what you will but know it is better to have some kind of pet insurance, for sure, than none.

Not worth it.

Usually have to appeal decisions. They will find reasons not to cover. Covers per incident and will find reason to claim each incident is unrelated. Example...Giardia. Covered in 2019. No premium paid as deductible was not met. Ok. Accepted. Exact symptoms in 2021. Treated with same meds prescribed in 2019 (successfully) for Giardia although no cysts were found in fecal. They are not always found due to life cycle and shedding of Giardia cysts. Claim denied. Reason, vomiting diarrhea can be caused by anything including cancer so not covered. This was not first denial. They will say rates aren’t increased annually due to age of dog as if that is a positive. Perhaps this is true but they do definitely increase annually due to annual increase in vet fees. They don’t cover vet fees. Examination fees are not covered. Paid out about 7000 in premiums not including annual premium increases which has gone up from about 53 to 81 monthly. Recovered about 2600 of that in payable claims. They are quick to process claims and to respond on the positive side even if it is a claim denial you gave to appeal. Won’t fight with them over this one, considering cancelling.
