Comes in handy

Thus far I have not had to use my benefits for any major health issues but my previous experience with another pup emphasized the saying that you don't need insurance until you don't have it. The unforeseen expenses were not prevalent until my sweet pup got older and she had already developed issues so I could no longer get her insured. This go around I wanted to be more prepared.

I regret switching from my previous pet…

I regret switching from my previous pet insurer to Metlife. I have had nothing but problems from the moment I signed up. It took multiple attempts to get my policies set up correctly (I have 5 pets insured). Then every single claim but 1 has had issues. They have asked for the same paperwork over and over again (medical records or explanation of benefits from previous insurer). How many times do I have to re-send? I have had to call on every single claim but 1. Their submission process SEEMS easy, but if you have multiple pets and policies, no matter what I do, everything gets messed up, And there is not text box to provide more info to help them understand the situation and what is being submitted. I have even tried writing the details up and uploading it with the invoice and SOAPs. They still doesn't help. As a customer, I am at the mercy of whatever claims agent is handling my claims. It should not be this hard.

Don't bother unless your pet is a newborn!

Unless you begin to insure your pet from the time they are born, this insurance is useless. They consider everything you have taken your pet to vet for as a PRE-EXISTING CONDITION and do not cover. It's useless for a pet like ours that is 6yrs old. You also have no control or idea what the vet writes in the medical records and will consider that as PRE-EXISTING. Disappointed and if my claim for our last visit is not covered, I will likely cancel this insurance.
