I'm so glad I have this insurance plan
I enrolled my 5.5 year old cat to Trupanion in 2015. For many years, I just kept "donating (lol)" the monthly premium. Now my cat is almost 15yo. I can't thank Trupanion enough. I claim online and they are very quick to review them and send payments to me. It only took a few days. In September 2024, I paid about $7000 (ER and my regular vet) for my cat's pancreatitis treatment. After $500 deductible, they did cover 90% of the treatment. I was able to pay back the credit card right away. And in Dec. 2024, another incident occurred (this time was heart failure and relapsed pancreatitis). Trupanion was again very fast to process my claims. My friends are also Trupanion customers and they are all saying the Trupanion is much better than insurance companies for humans! Customer service would email you back in no time and you get a real person on phone not a bot. Even if I never had to use this insurance plan, I think by paying monthly premium, other pets are being able to get treatment and get covered for the cost. It's a community. Stress from caring for sick pets is a lot, and worrying about the cost is another stress. Having this insurance plan totally reduced my anxiety. I'm so glad that I have this insurance plan.

Healthy Paws is the best
I have 2 dogs about 4 years old who have been problems for some time now. Fred tore his both ACL's and a meniscus and Wilma is prone to mast cell tumors. Both were able to receive the best care because of Healthy Paws. I also had my last dog Mr. Magoo insured through Healthy Paws and, even though he was a big dog (80 pounds), he lived comfortably until 14 years old since we were able to provide the best care for him.

Takes forever to pay claims
When submitting a claim it says will process in 3 days. Then it switches to 5-10 days. Then it switches to 15 days. Policy says they will be pay within 30 dqys. I'm at day 28 and nothing has been done with my claim. I'll be filing a complaint with the Attorney General. Met Life does not do what they promise in the contract but expect me to follow it or they'll cancel you. Go with another provider and skip over MetLife.

Insurance is an business sheme, more than it is a service.
Been paying for this insurance for over two years and have yet to actually put it to use. The cost per year would have been enough to cover the annual expenses for all the standard shots, dewormers, and tick / flea preventatives which by the way are not covered here. Attempted submitting a claim for this stuff. It only lists options for new injuries, new illnesses, or micro-chipping. Even if I could submit one, it wouldn't kick in until I have paid twice what I am already paying this company in a years time ($500). And to add to it all, despite never having to use insurance fortunately, the monthly premium went up another ten dollars in 2025. "Gotta pump up those numbers, rookie!" The greed is obvious and I am sick of it... To any animal owner reading this, I would suggest shopping around. Find out what is the best value and what will cover your pets needs. Not that you don't already do this, but more importantly - Love your animals, give them some freedom, keep your pets healthy and active, as well as a variety of food options throughout life if possible. Everything is a pre-existing condition
Everything with Trupanion becomes a pre-existing condition. A scratch my cat had from playing with other cats became a pre-existing condition and they won't pay anything skin/fur based. It sounds like good insurance but when everything becomes a pre-existing condition for the life of your pet, then it's really not insurance at all. I have a 2 year old cat who is perfectly healthy but they managed to find 4 pre-existing conditions covering 4 entire body systems and organs. Even my vet doesn't understand how they managed that.
