unfair claim denial

I got ASPCA for my english bulldog right away when i got him, he was only about 10 weeks old. Well, while waiting for the insurance to kick in which is usually 30 days, he ended up having pneumonia, so he was coughing and vomiting, so I took hime to the vet, he ended up in the emergency hospital for a whole weekend which cost me an arm and a leg but I dealt with it since the insurance waiting period didn't kick in yet. So about a couple months after, he started vomiting again and after having an xray done, nothing showed, he needed to be hospitalized several times due to dehydration but I didn't really worry since i already had insurance. Well, after going back and forth to the vet, I decided to take him to a different vet where they did an ultrasound and found ulcers in his esophocus and stomach. very expensive procedure but again I thought I don't have to worry, ASPCA will cover 80% of all that mess. Well I was wrong. After he was cured, I was well over $5000 dollars from all the tests, hospitalization and all. I sent in all the claims and they denied it saying since he vomited before the insurance kicked in, they are calling it pre-existing. I got a letter from each vet stating that he was vomiting before due to pheumonia, this now is ulcers and it should be covered. But they denied everything. And whats worse is that I got the best plan that I pay over $60 a month. They said I can write a letter stating why ASPCA should pay but honestly, I highly doubt that will help. Any

If you have a pet, buy health insurance

I have small dog and I bought the insurance as a safety measure. I have used it and think it is great. It certainly helps with Vet bills. My dog doesn't have any major medical problems but having reimbursement for heartworm and flea medication is great. I would recommend pet insurance for everyone who has a pet.

This claim was for tests after mu baby got sick and was in the ER for a few days. The tests cost over $1000 and I had my check within a week. These guys are great. They email you the progress and thank you for taking good care of my dog.

The Appeal Process works!!

My Great Dane puppy was seen by the vet for a swollen ankle and an ear infection was a secondary diagnosis. On the claim form, the vet's office wrote ear infection/infection/injury, which was denied intially by Embrace due to my puppy's pre-existing ear infections. This bill was over $1000 for x-rays, labs, and medications. I submitted an appeal via email and had a letter sent by my vet's office explaining my puppy's condition and with in 2 weeks Embrace agreed to pay a portion of the bill ($150) but this was after my $500 deductible. The portion of the bill was for the ankle injury....not the pre-existing ear infections. So my lesson learned is....pay attention to the vet's diagnosis and make sure it is clear what your dog was actually treated for. The claims and appeal process was much easier than I thought it would be.

Life Saver

This company is outstanding. I insure 3 pets--thank goodness. When my cat was 11 months only, his body stopped making red blood cells. He was hospitalized for 3 weeks, had 2 transfusions, bone marrow tests. It was discovered that he has immune-mediated dyserythropoiesis. With his medication, he is back to normal. I don't know what I would have done without Trupanion. They have not only been fair but also extremely kind and helpful throughout this whole ordeal.

Trupanion Does The Job

I must say I was skeptical about pet insurance but Trupanion came through, adjudicating my first claim professionally and fairly. I look forward to a good relationship with this company through my pet's life and I feel very optimistic.
