INCREDIBLE - So grateful for Healthy Paws!

(I'm writing my review about my experience in general, not just one claim) Healthy Paws is the best money I have ever spent on my pup. The peace of mind is priceless, but I'm even more grateful for it when I have (unfortunately!) had to use it! The staff at Healthy Paws has been readily available to answer any and all of my questions, followed up with me consistently, and made sure my claims were processed quickly. I love that they've gotten in touch with me as a follow up "just to see" how my dog is doing. I can't compare Healthy Paws to any other pet insurance because I've never had pet insurance with another company before...and I don't ever intend to! :-)

Incredibly Impressed

My husband and I adopted a beautiful little poodle/? mix shelter dog last January. He was a year old. We decided to buy pet insurance because we have friends who expended huge sums of money for medical treatments for their uninsured dog. We hoped we would never need the insurance. In October we discovered that his liver was failing. The cause is unknown, but our vet suspects that he ingested something toxic. After multiple visits to our vet and an emergency pet hospital, our little dog died. We are devastated. The bills came to over $3000. Healthy Paws immediately reimbursed us almost $2200. What impressed us the most however, is the fact that ten people on the Healthy Paws staff wrote personal notes on a sympathy card. I could not have imagined better or more sympathetic help.

dog ate rawhide bone

my puppy ate a rawhide bone. apparently wasn't supposed to - ooops! had to take him to vet after throwing up. $1500 in bills. embrace was a bit slow out of the gate. many questions i thought i had answered before - but they came around fairly quickly and got moving. reimbursement is also not incredibly fast but they did deliver at the end.

Wouldn't be without it!

We have two dogs, both of which have been covered from the moment we adopted them. We have both the insurance and wellness coverage, and I couldn't be happier. Embrace has made everything simple... Getting started took a 5 minute phone call and a very simple form that my vet filled out. A claim form takes no time at all - I actually spend more time writing the address on the envelope than filling out the form. And after I mail in my form within a few days I get an email with a status of the claim. I can check my status online without needing to remember a password. I get emailed updates when the status changes, and every representative I have ever dealt with was very friendly and helpful. My wellness refunds have been quite fast - within a week or two of filing a claim. The claims for injuries have taken a bit longer, but they do contact me to let me know that it is still processing. It's really nice to have the peace of mind that the insurance offers. I know that I can take my pet to the vet if needed and don't have to stress about money - which is the last thing you should have to worry about when you are talking about the welfare of your best friend. My Pekingese Annie requires several medications to deal with her eye disorders. Trupanion has been great about paying the claims I submitted.

So Easy

Joe had an ear infection. Submitting the claim was so easy, the hardest thing was to remember to bring the form to the vets (and even when I forgot I called and you faxed one over for me. The whole process was fast. I knew it would be applied to our deduction, as we hadn't used it yet. But overall thrilled with the whole process!

Waste of money

We took out Trupanion policies for both our puppies when they were about six months old. One dog suffered a poisoning from eating a cigarette butt and ran up a $900 vet bill, of which Trupanion acknowledged $800 would go towards our $1,000 annual deductible. Then the next year premiums came. Not only did rates go up for both dogs (who are still under 2 years old), but they also changed the terms of the policy so that $1,000 lifetime deductible is now "per diagnosis", not per pet. The customer service person I spoke to was rude and had an attitude of "well just cancel the policy if you don't like it." That's exactly what we will do! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY WITH THESE PEOPLE.

Extraordinarily nice people in a bad time

Fist off, I never actually was able to file a claim so I have no experience in that area. I am hear because of the wonderful experience I had after the passing of my cat. After a few weeks of taking my cat to the vet, my bills started stacking up and we realized we needed insurance (even if it didn't cover the current issues). I thoroughly reviewed at least 6 different insurance companies. It felt like learning a new language to figure out what was going on. I went with Healthy Paws for numerous reasons (no annual cap, coverage starts 15 days after signing up, relatively cheap, one time annual deductible, etc). They are vastly better than just about every other company, maybe one or two came close, but I went with Healthy Paws because of an article in the Seattle Times (I think?) that reviewed numerous companies and decided they were the best (if narrowly). Anywho, it was unfortunately discovered that my cat had cancer that was very far along in the abdomen. We ended up putting him down about a week later. It was quite the horrible experience, as he was my best friend and not very old. I made myself cancel the insurance before I could forget. I was quite surprised that my first month fee was reimbursed without any hassle. I was expecting to pay it, but later realized they give you 30 days to "try them out". So that's pretty cool. However, the real reason I am here is that about another week later, at the deepest point of my despair, I got a letter from Healthy Paws in th

ER Visits are never fun

I have Healthy Paws coverage for all four of my girls. Though the monthly premiums can get quite costly, I feel like they pay for themselves in the end. I recently had to take one of my girls to the ER for stitches and to get her eye checked out after a spat with another dog. I received an email stating that my claim had been processed within 2 days of it being submitted, and Healthy Paws reimbursed me for exactly what they said they would (90% of the bill after my deductible). The reimbursement check was a huge relief since I had just moved and since the holidays are coming up. This has been a trend since starting a policy with Healthy Paws, my claims are always paid quickly (once all of the proper information is submitted), and they have always covered what their policy says they will cover. I would recommend Healthy Paws to anyone looking for pet insurance.
