I WAS SCAMMED
This is the most horrible experience I have ever had with any company ever. After I was hit in a car accident (deemed not my fault) sonnet insurance ignored my calls and emails for over a year and I still haven’t gotten my car fixed. Do NOT BUY THEIR INSURANCE IT IS A SCAM.

Two identical policies; no customer service
Two policies were set up for the same dog. I called the Nationwide representative twice, left a message at his extension, and never received acknowledgment or a call back. I called the general line a day later, and the situation was resolved. Not using email in this day and age (fax, really?) is ridiculous. If my company didn't offer a discount for pet insurance through Nationwide, I would have gone with another insurer.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST. TRY PETSBEST PET INSURANCE.
THIS IS THE MOST ABSOLUTE. HORRIBLE. PET INSURANCE COMPANY! I have insured my dog since she was eight weeks old and have been with MetLife Pet Insurance for a while. I have experienced superb service from other companies, but unfortunately, not with MetLife Pet Ins. I submitted a claim on May 5, 2025, then I was contacted that in order to process this claim, they would need an additional documentation, which I ordered. Once received, I tried to upload it to the ACTIVE claim; however, one is unable to do so resulting in filing a whole new claim. This was May 5, 2025. Today July 21, 2025. I have sent numerous emails only to get an auto response that more information is needed to process the claim...I called, no answer. I reached out again the other day, nada. I uploaded the document requested of me to the emails (approximately 10) and still nada. Furthermore, For obvious reasons, I canceled my policy June 1, the actual day the payment was debited from my account. Guess what? No REFUND WAS PROCESSED to date. Nor was the claim ever processed, so 2.5 months later I finally got someone on the phone after being disconnected from the previous representative. Now, to be fair, I have worked with them in the past and never experienced this time-consuming and aggravating process. I like to take away lessons from situations such as this. Take it for what it is, here is my input: PETSBEST INSURANCE is more affordable and offers more coverage for less. I highly recommend making a switch or if you are researching pet insurance companies, at the very least, consider PETSBEST Pet Insurance to save yourself months of aggravation!

Took out a policy more than a week ago…
Took out a policy more than a week ago never heard another word. Don’t know if I have coverage or not. Not sure I want to do business with the company who tells me my files and underwriting and they’ll get back to me when they make a decision. In reading through the reviews, this appears to be a very common problem that either you never hear back from them while your file is an underwriting, you do hear back from them and they cancel your policy before it’s even issued for underwriting reasons, or lastly policy just shows up in the mail with no explanation as to why it took so darn long to get there, and you find that the effective date of your coverage is weeks after you applied. This is very poor insurance underwriting to say the least. Wondering what individual state departments of insurance would think of these tactics. Also seems to be a common theme where after you have a claim, even though your policy is still active, they’ll cancel your coverage and then invite you to reapply only to add multiple exclusions based upon prior claims. Update, will give another star. Never heard from them until I got a policy in the mail. Maybe I missed something but in the whole process I never saw anywhere that said there was a waiting period for a brand new kitten that had been to the vet for a vet check prior to purchasing. Long story, short, When I got my policy, it was dated 14 days after I submitted my application. We’ll see what happens when I take my kitten in for a neuter in the next couple of months. I’m still not happy with the lack of transparency, and follow through to let me know that they had received my paperwork and that my policy would begin on a certain date. I’m not holding much hope that this company will pay its claims without a fight. Will update in a few months.

Easy and efficient
My dog recently had a 24 hour stay in the vet hospital for eating a foreign object and they worried about a possible obstruction. It was an expensive stay but the whole claiming process was very easy and fair. Our refund has already been deposited to our account. Thank you to the hospital and insurance for helping us when it was stressful.
Stephie was great
Stephie was great. She answered all my questions and let me know how everything is going to work. I feel good about the purchase.
