Excellent insurance

Easy to use and straightforward policies that are easy to understand. They have policies to fit any budget. I have had them for two of my dogs over the last 15 years and highly recommend them. They repay claims quickly and with no fuss. It is easy to submit them online as well.

Impossible to cancel.…

I had Spot insurance for over a year and luckily never needed to file a claim as my pup stayed healthy. I moved out of the country a few months ago and emailed them to cancel my policy. Note - I emailed the address that they sent my policy info from - which is labeled “reply” and does not send an automatic message or have any notes in their prior message that it’s an unmonitored account. I was charged the following month. I emailed them again - this time attaching random emails from their website that they suggest emailing for quotes. They finally responded and cancelled my plan but argued they wouldn’t honor my original cancellation date. It’s also important to note that they don’t have any emails or instruction on how to cancel on their site. I now have to take this up with my credit card company. I would not suggest Spot to anyone I know. Edit - I’m even more disappointed by their blatant lies in their response. There is no footer in the email that the account is unmonitored, the email is reply(several numbers)@mypetinsurer.com. Also there is no automatic message as I mentioned above. And there is no clear information on how to cancel on their website. You can see for yourself.

Horrible

Horrible. Stay away from this company at all costs. They actually find ways to get out of paying by stating “pre-existing conditions” for everything. I paid almost $10,000 at emergency vet and was reimbursed NOTHING.

Pretty easy to work with

I think they were pretty easy to work with, the website is easy to navigate and uploading a claim is a breeze. I did not have any trouble with reimbursements but was worried that I would because I have read some reviews that this might be a problem. That was not my experience. I will say that they are expensive but the series of claims that I did make made it so much easier to get the best care for my pet while she was ill. The bills were steep and my husband had been laid off, it made a big difference for us. My girl died recently and they made it very simple to cancel the insurance. All in all, I am glad I had it. Given my budget though, I would probably self-insure another pet by putting money in account set aside for emergencies. Vet care is expensive and unlike the before time, I think I am going to have to budget for it.
