Fair and honest principles, easy to contact
My Siamese kitty Ichiban has been insured by ASPCA Pet Insurance since 2007, and has had several medical issues over the years... couple of tooth extractions, 3 or 4 allergic reactions (who knows to what!) and one emergency toxic reaction, probably to some kind of poisonous chemical that was used on a plant or for vermin control. Although I never let him outside alone, I do frequently walk with him on a leash, and he likes to sniff everything, taste-sample certain plants. In each instance, ASPCA paid just what I contracted for, without a "runaround" or some surprising exclusion that was not in our original contract. Any question I had about their benefit payment, the well-defined EOB statement they send, was answered clearly and without delay by a trained and professional human being, and I had no problems reaching one by phone. And it seems that everyone I have communicated with at this company is truly an animal lover! I am very thankful and relieved, to have this excellent, reasonably-priced insurance.

Great service and great plans
We lost our doxie tragically and because we didn't have the money the first day and looked for other options. We looked into pet insurance the following month when we adopted our Gus. We have had Pets Best ever since. We have the middle plan and used to have the wellness plan attached. Did not find the wellness plan as beneficial as the regular. We have used our pet insurance several times including when our basset hound ate some carpet and had to have emergency care, during which they noticed he had bladder chrystals and he had surgery for that covered by Pets Best and now our Gus had a growth on his elbow which was treated for almost a year. The growth was removed and biopsied and it was cancerous. Gus had a 2nd surgery and it was all covered. The fact that you only have to pay the deductible and then they cover 80% is better than some health insurance for humans. When they started direct deposit I thought I'd gone to heaven lol. I recommend Pets Best to all my friends and coworkers. As long as you follow the claim procedure everything goes smooth, quick, and friendly. Also, the feeling of not having to freak out and hear like we did that will be $7000 or we can put her to sleep. We are free to worry about our pets in tough times not all about the money.

Very fast resolution, exactly as promised.
This was the first claim we submitted. Everything worked exactly as promised in the brochure. We reached our deductible, and received a check for 90% of the remainder. It was very easy to submit, too.

Good insurance, paid promptly with no hassle
I bought insurance for my 9-year-old lab because I knew as she aged she was more likely to have more costly vet treatments. We had two occasions to use it in the first year, and both times ASPCA paid promptly with no hassle or surprises. Customer service was very knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the coverages, as well.

Extreme disappointment
5 yr old greyhound had an issue with a rear toe. Dog seen by vet on 2/14. We were not in a hurry to amputate a toe unless absolutely necessary. Plan renewed 3/1/12, surgery on 3/30 no covered because we didn't have it done before May 1st. So much for not rushing into chopping off a dogs toe. Because of a 14 day gap, claim denied. A lot of BS !!

They fight bank with Diductables
They paid my dogs claims (80%) and then moved my diductable to 50% I personally don't think that is right. If you use their insurance they will penalize you with stupid diductables. So one must wonder if $70 a month is really a deal? I will let you be the one who decides.

Raisins + German Shepherd = $$$$$
When I adopted Baby I decided to get her insured. I did a lot of research and found that ASPCA offered the best coverage for older dogs at the most reasonable price. So decided to go with ASPCA. I believe it was a very smart decision. When I came home one night to find that my GSD had eaten a bag of raisins out of my purse, ASPCA was very helpful and kind. Baby had to spend the weekend at the emergency room racking up a huge bill. It would have cleaned me out if it hadn't been for ASPCA Pet Insurance. I never had a problem getting someone from ASPCA on the phone. Everyone seemed to genuinely care about Baby's well being. I got my reimbursement check in a timely manner, so instead of having to pay around $1300 for Baby's emergency care it only ended up costing me around $400 out of pocket. I would highly recommend ASPCA Insurance, for the piece of mind knowing that you and your pet will be well taken care of if anything should happen.
