Declaration not reimbursed - inadequate registration procedure
My claim for the treatment of a bladder infection of our cat was not reimbursed by Figo, referring to a comment in his file that, according to me and our vet, has no causal link with bladder infection whatsoever. Our cat developed a bladder infection 5 weeks after taking out the insurance, so in essence Figo's suggestion is that I would purposefully have registered our cat while he already had a bladder infection, and then let him walk around with it for 1½ months, just to be able to declare the invoice? What an annoying and also disrespectful insinuation..... It now appears that our cat is not insured for a whole series of conditions as a result. If I had known this in advance, I would never have insured my cat with Figo. I therefore believe that Figo's registration procedure is seriously inadequate and places a disproportionate amount of responsibility on the policyholder. I registered a 100% healthy animal in good faith, and Figo is looking for a reason in the file to avoid a claim. It would be fairer for Figo to give a person who applies the claim the option to have the file reviewed, so that any exclusions are clear in advance. Because of this omission, I am now paying a year's premium for a cat that is barely insured. Even after filing a formal complaint, Figo does not say a word about the inadequate registration procedure and does not move an inch towards a lenient treatment. Very disappointing! My advice is therefore to have Figo assess the file of an older animal with a file at the vet first, to avoid any nasty surprises later on.

Buyer Beware! -Must Reapply to Increase Maximum Annual Amount!
Buyer Beware: You will not be able to increase your "Maximum Annual Limit" without reapplying for a new insurance policy (and at that point all current medical conditions will be considered pre-existing). After 14 years of consecutive annual policies with Embrace for multiple dogs, annual policies that went up in cost every single year, and never having even approached our $10,000 annual maximum, we dealt with multiple cancer diagnoses and treatments for one of our dogs. When it became clear that we would be well over $10,000 before the end of the policy year I called to increase the annual maximum and was told explicitly, for the first time, that if I ever wanted to increase the annual maximum I would have to reapply with Embrace for a new insurance policy for this dog and that their cancer would then be considered a pre-existing condition and would not be covered at all. It did not matter if it was done when we were entering a new policy year, either. And this is when I realized what Embrace was all about. I had asked when I began with Embrace if I would need a higher annual maximum and was told then, and in future years when we would adjust our policy by adding a new dog, that I was well covered with a $10,000 annual maximum. When I pushed back with this fact and the unfairness of this policy, they reminded me that I should have read the fine print located somewhere within the paperwork that states their many policies. Then they sent me a box with dog treats and toys and a card letting me know how much they appreciated our loyalty as customers and how sorry they were for our dog's illness. We ended up with $20,000 of necessary medical treatment for our dog that Embrace would not cover because it was over the annual maximum limit of $10,000. What they don't make clear outside of the fine print is that you can never increase that annual maximum amount without reapplying and having all current conditions for your pet considered "pre-existing". We later discovered that there are other pet insurance companies with no annual limits, and we so regretted all the money we paid to Embrace over the years and so wished we had gone with a different company. Dealing with Embrace on this issue was the worst insurance experience we have ever had, at the most vulnerable time of our life as pet owners.

I’ve been paying $90 a month expecting…
I’ve been paying $90 a month expecting peace of mind for my pet’s health. Instead, I’ve received nothing but frustration. Not a single one of my claims has been approved – not even the most basic or clearly eligible expenses. Every time I submit a claim, it feels like they find some excuse to deny it. Their customer service is slow, unhelpful, and seems more interested in avoiding payouts than actually supporting pet owners. What’s the point of insurance if it never actually covers anything? I feel completely scammed. This company has taken thousands from me and given absolutely nothing in return. Save your money and avoid this company at all costs.
