Labs eat everything, and I mean everything!
My crazy puppy, Moose, ate some rocks. It all started when he was waking me up in the middle of the night to poop diarrhea. Usually when he has an upset stomach it will only last one night, especially after I give him a pepto bismol tablet. Well he was sick for a week which is not normal for him. One night he threw up a little rock so I thought maybe he was getting better so I fed him, after eating he ate a lot of grass and threw up again, all his undigested food. He had a bowel movement where he pooped out a big rock (poor Moose). I took him to the vet and they did x-rays and found little rocks which he would be able to pass but there was two big rocks that would not be able to pass. Moose needed surgery to remove those rocks :( . I am so happy that I had Healthy paws pet insurance for Moose. I had to put in claims before for his ear infection and had a scare before with him eating stuff and getting x-rays. The experience that I have had with healthy paws is that they are fast and reliable. When I was looking around for pet insurance this was the company that had the best reviews. I made a joke to myself when getting the insurance for Moose "I know he will eat something one day that will require surgery" well he did! I cannot stress enough how important it is to have insurance for your pet because their medical bills are pricey and add up. My claim was over $1,000.00 , it was scary but what had me stay calm was that I would be getting reimbursed quickly and would have a tig

Best Company I've Used
My 5 year old rottie has been through so much in her life that without pet insurance I would probably have gone broke by now. I didn't always have ASPCA Pet Health Insurance but I'm glad I switched. They have lower premiums, better refunds, and they cover hereditary issues for a reasonable price. Currently my rottie is undergoing therapy for a failed TPLO and I've had to pay over $7,000 already and have gotten just about $5,500 worth of it back and am still waiting on my next refund. They are always calling to check on my pets and I love that they send out little handwritten cards to say thank you, or to wish my animals well. I'm always an advocate for helping animals and though I know this insurance company isn't exactly the ASPCA it still makes me feel better knowing that I always have someone standing beside me when my animals are in need of care.

Quick To Respond and Pay
This is my first experience with pet insurance. I found Embrace to be quicker and better than my human medical insurance. They acknowledged receipt of my claim within days of my filing it. They also spelled out a timetable for settling the claim. I received reimbursement in less than half the maximum time they had listed in the timetable. My dog had skin problems that required testing and expensive medications.After paying a huge vet bill, my reimbursement from Embrace really helped ease my financial pain. Oh...and my dog has recovered from its illness.

Good coverage / Claims handled quickly
My Chocolate Lab developed chronic allergies due to our mild spring. Needed a couple of steroid shots to get her comfortable. Insurance covered most of the Vets charges minus my 20% and deductible per my plan. No complaints, very satisfied with this claim.

I was skeptical but they came through
I got insurance a few months ago after someone on Facebook pet forum recommended it. I've nearly been bankrupt by vet bills before but insurance never seemed to cover much and didn't seem worth the high cost. Checked out Pets Best and their coverage was broad with few exclusions and even those could be overcome by a waiting period/doctor's certification. I got very affordable accident/illness coverage not knowing I would need it in a short time. One of my dogs had a stroke and collapsed and ultimately I had to let her go. We had been sent to a specialist and the cost was in the thousands. I was all ready to fight the Pets Best assuming they'd find a way out of paying. But I was wrong. They came through and paid everything the policy said they would. It took a load off of my mind in a very sad and stressful time. They also were able to pay the vet directly which was great and gave the vet a level of comfort so they could work with me on payment. Thumbs up and hearty thank you to Pets Best.

With that out of the way, first, the good: once my claims are approved, they are paid within a few days, and in the amount approved. Now, the bad: the first time I submitted the claim, Trupanion denied it based upon a very shaky line of reasoning. I realize that the company is in the business of trying not to pay (otherwise, they wouldn't make money), but they made what I felt was a pretty big leap (my vet thought so, too, and couldn't understand it) to connect two unrelated conditions, and I ended up having to get my vet to write a letter in order to straighten it out. The next time I shop for insurance, I will consider Trupanion, but I will probably shop around quite a bit, too, just to see what else is out there.
