Better than human health insurance
My 2 year old lab had two separate health events this summer. One was gastro related and a month later, what I thought was an obstruction in her throat turned out to be kennel cough caught from her "Cousin" dog Cami. I paid both vet bills and at that time it never occurred to me to file a claim as it did not include any surgery or serious illness, thankfully. I called ASCPA Pet Health and described the symptoms and the treatments and asked it the claims would be covered. The service level I received was a 10 and the representative encouraged me to file a claim for both events. Within a couple of weeks I was reimbursed and then received a follow up call from Douglas to ask how my dog was and to ensure I was satisfied. My takeaway from this was that Blue Cross Blue Shield human health insurance could learn from the ASCPA Pet Health Insurance!

Trupanion saved my dog!
I have a 2 year old chocolate lab and I had stepped out of the house for just a few minutes and I came back to find that my dog had eaten her body weight in dog food. Silly me, I had forgotten that I had left the open bag on the floor. Thankfully I am a veterinary technician and know the signs of bloat and recognized them right away. I called my vet and took her to the hospital right away. Radiographs confirmed what I had suspected, food bloat! My vet recommened that I take her over to the ER for at least overnight care/monitoring. Once at the ER they gave me 2 options, overnight monitoring with frequent walks or pump her stomach. I chose to just have her monitored since she was stable. The next morning I went to pick her up and she had done great! The techs and DR's at the ER gave her amazing care. None of this would have been at all possible without Trupanion! I now recommend this insurance company above all others! It's so easy to submit your claim and you find out within minutes what they will cover and what you will pay out of pocket. Trupanion saved my dog!

Broken Tibia
Our first frenchie has Trupanion, but premiums increased substantially for our Puppy. So we turned to Embrace and we are so thankful we did. Our 6 month old Frenchie pup broke his tibia in a freak accident and Embrace was there immediately. After the $300 deductible they literally covered 90% of the accident. Not sure what we would have done had we not had them considering the accident cost was upwards of 6k. The one caveat is you have to be able to float everything up front. The first reimbursement took about a month, but then they started rolling in about 2/3 weeks.

Excellent Pet Insurance
Our poodle, Jolie, a rescue, has gotten herself into lots of trouble in the two years e have had her. She has a fondness for all sorts of things a dog should not eat: chocolate, vaseline, raw rice, etc. Tnis has resulted in much time at the vets. Fortunately our insurace has covered most of this. HEALTHY PAWS has paid 90% of the covered claims promptly. They have been extremely pleasant to deal with. I would highly recommend their services to anyone considering pet insurance. So easy.......
When your beloved pet gets rushed into animal hospital the last thing that should be on your mind is insurance...... if you have Healthy Paws insurance then you will be very lucky in that respect. Once the dust has settled and your pet is home again, you simply take a picture of the bill with your cell phone and submit it online. A day or so later you get an email explaining they are working on your claim, then another few days after that they give you a detailed breakdown of what your reimbursement will be. Then you're done, right? Wrong..... then they email you and ask how your pet is. And this is not a mass marketing email..... thus is a very personal "one pet person to another" email from a real person. Very refreshing.

I phoned to ask about cost of tests that the vet said Charlie might need if the problem persisted. The insurance agent explained what the estimated cost would be and he told me about getting the test pre-approved because the test was expensive. Lucky, for us Charlie got better but we now know what to do if the problem arises again.
