Trupanion emergency insurance saved our Cleo

Our 8-year-old Saluki mix was hit and pinned under a car, resulting in internal injuries, numerous cuts and abrasions and a huge area of burned skin on her side. We rushed her to our emergency veterinarian, where she underwent a splenectomy, transfusion and other procedures to stabilize her. After two days she was transferred to the ICU of the veterinary hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for intensive treatment, a process which is still ongoing after more than a month. We were covered by Trupanion insurance, which reimburses 90% of costs for emergencies. They have been completely supportive in covering all claims to date, promptly and without question. We truly owe our dog's life to them, because without their support we would have had no choice but to euthanize her. I have recommended this company to many friends, who have had similar experiences with them.

So thankful that Embrace helped with my huge bill

The claim was handled promptly and my experience with them was terrific and provided me with great relief when my puppy needed emergency surgery after swallowing a large chunk of tennis ball that blocked his small intestine.

Most horrible customer service experience of my li

WHAT A FRAUD! We signed our rescue puppy up a few months after we got him, just in case, and are currently in the process of being scammed by this company. He was always our accident prone pup, with access to woods, so we wanted to make sure he was covered if anything ever happened. A few months before we even signed him up he had gotten in to something in the woods that made him very sick and had to be rushed to the emergency vet for fluids. Thus the reason for the insurance sign up in July. In early September or puppy wad diagnosed with epilepsy and I remember feeling this huge sense of relief having this insurance.....even lucky that we had signed him up and he was past the activation date before his diagnosis. The first claim I submitted was for his visit to the specialist which was denied because they do not cover office visits.....fine. The second, and last claim, I submitted was for his medication which I knew was supposed to be covered. Once this claim was submitted and I provided his medical records, they proceded to use any vet visit he ever had as evidence of his epilepsy, even the instance in which it is clearly noted by our vet that he got into something poisonous. When contacting the company all they had were drones answering the phones that just kept repeating "well, our policy..." but could not answer how he can have a pre existing condition when he wasn't diagnosed with any condition until September? Or why we would go through a rigorous and expensive testing if they already knew what it was? If the doctor didn't know what it was and had to refer us to a specialist, what makes the employees at healthy paws more qualified? The best part is that they denied refunding me in full because I had submitted claims....THAT WERE BOTH DENIED! If we weren't saddled with the cost of treating our epileptic dog, I would seriously consider seeking legal counsel to go over the policy and actions taken by healthy paws because there is something seriously wrong here and now that we have a diagnosis from the neurologist, he will never be eligible for insurance again. Thanks for screwing us in the short and long term healthy paws!

Great Insurance -- It just doesn't get any better!

We have our 3 dogs insured with Healthy Paws. Their service is absolutely FANTASTIC!! We have seen claims processed in 1 DAY!! They always follow up with an email a few days after the claim asking how our pets are doing. Anyone who has insurance with another company needs to check Healthy Paws out. You will save so much more on vet costs. They calculate the claim using the actual vet charge. Other insurance companies calculate the claim on what they think you should have been charged for the procedure. We are 101% SATISFIED!!!

Great Insurance

Great Insurance. I have Pets Best for years. Had a claim submitted for one of my cat, and got approved and received the money with few days. I just had another cat in ER few weeks ago. Got my money within a week. Having Pet Insurance is great, so you never had to make the decision on putting your lovely pet down or spending thousand at animal hospital. I would just give the best to my pets. I would totally recommend this Pets Best to pet owners.

First time to use this insurance.

We have a puppy, at the time 8 months old, and she tries to get into everything and "taste" everything, to put it mildly. One day, we noticed she was sluggish, and had diarrhea that was reddish in color and took her to the vet. After some medication and special food that we could only get as a prescription from the vet, she recovered in about a week. The bill came to about $460 and after the $100 deductible and the 90% coverage, we received a check for about $265. We were surprised that the food was not covered because it was not available to us except as a prescription item. I would have thought that it would be covered, but they said it was not. Very disappointed in that. But other than that, they seemed to honor everything that was explained to us in the policy, as best as we could recall. We had reviewed several policies with other companies literature on their pet coverage, but we thought this one included the best coverage, so we purchased it, and so far, we still feel this way. Thank you. John & Sue Beattie from Bellingham, MA

Overall very good

Very quick payment and updated emails. 90% payment as stated. Disappointed to learn that the deductible has to be paid per condition.
