Worth every penny.
Our 4yr old, Haley, tore her cruciate ligaments in both knees. She just had her first TPLO surgery and it wasn't cheep! Health Paws paid the claim fast and without and hassles. I wish all insurance companies operated this way.

I can't complain
Ranger is a 6 year old labradoodle. When he was 2 he tore a ligament in his left knees, which had to be replaced. Then 2 months later he ate something that caused a blockage and had to have emergency surgery. At that point I decided to get VPI. The left knee was of course excluded, but after 6 months the stomach blockage incident was taken off exclusion. At age 4 he tore the ligament in his right knee! Vpi paid for all but my deductible and also covered the laser treatments that got him moving again.

Better than I ever expected!
Our GSD pup Mischka Von Lucian became very ill shortly before Christmas, 2014. She wouldn't eat, had severe nausea, stomach pain and other very unpleasant symptoms. After multiple trips to the Vet, with many tests/scans which could not fully determine the cause of her symptoms (and with our pup getting tired and worse off), she was finally referred to a larger Hospital facility, where it was determined that exploratory surgery was needed to try to find out what was causing her pain and symptoms. We spent the holidays monitoring and helping to nurse our baby back to health. I could literally go on and on about how caring this company is, how concerned everyone was about our Mischka's health each time I needed to call to ask a question and even how incredibly smooth the entire process was. But what I'd like to share with anyone who does not have this insurance for their pet is my very sincere recommendation to please look into doing so as soon as you can! The numbers tell the story (rounded up): $4,400 in allowed Vet/Hospital bills/$3,600 reimbursed by Trupanion. And I have to add that barely one week passed between our date of submission to approval of the claim to finally having a check in our hands. My husband and I were extremely impressed! I can speak from our personal experience that this kind of response is not typical of all pet insurance companies. A few years ago, when our beloved Beagle needed spinal surgery and rehab - a total cost out of pocket of $10,000 - that the insurance company that we had her insured with for 7 years REFUSED TO PAY A DIME. They seemed more intent on finding reasons NOT to pay the claim, than caring for the pet insured with them. Needless to say, we dropped that company. But when I learned about Trupanion from a colleague at work shortly after that bad experience, I knew that from that point forward any other pets that joined our family would be insured with this company. We welcomed Mischka into our "pack" a year later (she joined Kinsey O'MacKinsey the Irish Beagle & Mr. Trevor the Little Black Dog). I am so happy that friend and colleague shared the word with us about Trupanion. It is clearly one of the best decisions we have made regarding our pet's care. And oh, yes! I am happy to report that Mischka Von Lucian is well and as happy and energetic as ever. Thanks so much, Trupanion, for not only talking the talk...but also walking the walk!

Exceeds expectations!
I've always said, it's better to have and not need than to need and not have, when it comes to insurance. Unfortunately, I needed it for my Labrador. Pets best came through without any hassle and in a super timely manner. Thank you for making the decision to care for my 'baby' an easy one.

Great Pet Insurance!
I switched to Healthy Paws for my current dog because I'd been dissatisfied with previous pet insurance. I couldn't be happier. My 145 lb puppy had to have surgery and Healthy Paws was wonderful to deal with. Filing a claim online is easy. They would acknowledge receipt of the claim and process it immediately (sometimes the same day). If you call to ask a question, the reps are friendly and helpful. I cannot recommend this company enough.

Worst experience ever.
Was recommend to use this insurance and was planning on purchasing full pet insurance for both my dogs. Thankfully I tried the "trial" insurance first. I signed up for it and a couple days later my dog had a hurt leg I took her in for X-rays (that should be covered with the accident pet trial insurance). Spent over $300 at the vet and then sent in my claim.... Weeks later I recieved an email saying they would not cover any of the cost. Confused I called and spoke with the rudest agent. She told me I was only covered for accident insurance at the time my dog was hurt??? Confused I said "I'm sorry what exactly do you consider an accident? She has a hurt leg??" She then told me she would speak with her manager and have him call be in 3 days... 7 days go by with no word so I call back and speak with another person who says the same thing sorry it says here you were only covered by accidental at that time. Again I reponded with the same answer? Does my dog have to be run over with a car to be considered accidental? She said she would speak with her manager and have him call me.... Still have yet to hear from anyone. Would NOT recommend this insurance to anyone. Ever.

Very Satisfied
I have submitted several claims within the past year for our Cocopoo puppy (bladder infection, eye infection, etc). Each claim was processed accurately and I was sent a check promptly after processing. I had a question regarding one of my claims and sent an email...I got a response within 72 hours. I'm glad I have pet insurance and I'm glad it's VPI.

Piece of Mind
We have had our rottwieler insured with Trupanion for over 5 years. Over those years, he has had 2 major surgeries, one for disk ruptures and one to remove an abscess from in between his abdomen and other organs. Both episodes, Trupanion fulfilled their contract and paid the Doctors directly minus the 10%. Both surgeries and doctor visits totaled over $20,000.00. We were so overwhelmed with the costs, but Trupanion came through. We could not thank them enough! Thank you so much Trupanion. We would not have our boy today if it weren't for you.
