Maintenance Meds Claim

I work with Trupanion on almost a monthly basis for maintenance medications for one of my pets. EVERY claim is easy to manage and quickly processed. I have recommended them to at least five people I know who are pet parents.

A Life Saver, Truly An Amazing Company

After our dog sustained a major leg injury and started to show lameness in her rear hind leg, we took her to a specialist for an evaluation. A $4,000 quote later and we were unsure that we would be able to cover the costs of her care up front. After reviewing her policy and contacting Healthypaws, they agreed to not only cover 90% of the cost of her care (per her policy) but also helped us to directly pay the service provider so that we did not have to constrain ourselves with up front out of pocket costs. I cannot express enough how happy we are to have chosen Healthypaws for our pet's insurance needs. Every dime spent on her policy is well worth it for the care, concern, attentiveness, and professionalism of their staff when disaster unexpectedly strikes.

Excellent experience

When I adopted my 4th rescue dog (an American bulldog), I decided to get pet insurance for the younger 2 in order to reduce my financial risk. Little did I know at the time what a fortunate decision that was. A few months after I adopted my bulldog & enrolled him with Embrace, he was diagnosed with a life-threatening autoimmune disease (Evans syndrome). He's had a total of 3 critical episodes with this disease and is on long-term maintenance treatment for it; he also needs monthly labs and other ongoing care. In addition, he needed cruciate ligament surgery at the end of last year. I call him my million dollar dog. I'd guesstimate that he's had a total of $15-20k in medical bills over the ~3 years he's been with me, and virtually all of that has been covered at 80% by Embrace per the plan. It has been an absolute blessing not having to worry so much about treatment cost in the midst of dealing with the emotional and logistical stress associated with his illness. I know more than a few people who've had to let their dogs go because they simply couldn't afford the care needed to treat the disease. Claims (and the pre-cert for his surgery) have been handled promptly; I don't think they've ever questioned a claim we've submitted (I do my best to make sure I give them complete info so there aren't any delays). There was one exception, which is the reason I gave them 9 stars instead of 10: when my dog was attacked by another dog, they ruled it a 'pre-existing condition' because it said in his shelter records that he'd gotten agitated when they tried to give him an intake medical exam (so the underwriter made "aggression" a pre-existing condition).. I thought that was beyond a stretch. But I won't complain too much about that, because they have done a lot of heavy lifting on his vet bills. When I first enrolled him, there was a $50k lifetime reimbursement limit, which I became concerned about (before all this happened, I never imagined that he'd ever approached that number). When I called last year to see what his total was to date, they told me the lifetime limit had actually been removed because they switched underwriters. How often does something like that happen with an insurance company?? Their customer service is also excellent.

TTA surgery for cruciate repair

We insure two dogs with Trupanion, One never seems to need to see a vet while the other one has had claims for various injuries, ingestion of a foreign object, urinary tract infection etc.Recently and most costly was a TTA surgery to repair a torn cruciate ligament - total cost close to $5,000. Lucky for us we chose 90% coverage when we chose her policy.

Outstanding

Yes! I initially had to meet a $500.00 deductible amount for costs for the same illness. But since then "Trupanion" has continued to pay 90% of my vet costs & medications without question, saving me Hundreds of dollars over the past 2 years. Happy to say my buddy is doing very well and reducing both his medications and his vet visits. Thank you "Trupanion" My last pet insurance (for another dog) paid me a total of $1,750.00 back for costs of $8,5oo.00

So happy we went with this company!

Our beloved cat Samuel L. Catson decided one day to eat some random food morsel on the kitchen floor and in doing so made his tummy upset. His tummy got so upset that he could no longer go #2, not for a while in fact. As you can imagine this caused him great discomfort. So we took our little Samuel L.Catson to our favorite vet and they fixed him up in no time. Initially I dreaded having to deal with another insurance company, but they honestly took all the hassle and worry away. They had very prompt service and very pleasant staff to guide your way.I honestly couldn't recommend this company enough to you.
