Reimbursement of Claims Much Improved!

On June 14 I submitted the first set of claims for my dog Cody's recently diagnosed IMHA. I woke up this morning to 3 different claim approval emails approved/processed for Direct Deposit. There are others not yet processed, but the biggest ones are being reimbursed as I type this review. I'm impressed with the speed with which they were processed this time around. The last time I needed to use this policy was in 2014. If I recall correctly, it took about a month for those two claims to be processed and paid. This time around, an 8 day processing time for MUCH, MUCH bigger claims and no requests for additional information were made! I've read thru some of the other reviews on another site, I take most with a grain of salt as many of those review writers did not seem to read the fine print before subscribing to Pets Best Insurance as their provider. I haven't ever seen a pet policy that allows for coverage of pre-existing conditions or that will cover illnesses within a few days of obtaining the policy. If they did, what's to stop customers from buying insurance at the first sign of illness, then waiting a couple of days to take them to the Vet just because they think they now have coverage. To me, those people are either not too bright or they're just trying to game the system. My recent experience with Pets Best has been seamless. Submit bills, add an explanation and discharge papers from the vet and things are processed/paid in a timely fashion. Submit incomplete paperwork and/or try to claim something that is explicitly excluded in your policy and it's denied. It's that simple. Reading for comprehension goes a looonnnnggg way toward utilizing these policies as they are intended. It sucks that my dog will have ongoing medical expenses for the rest of his life, but i'm happy to have this policy with Pets Best to help me thru the bills.

Pleasantly Surprised!

Recently my French Bulldog, Sylas, came down with an undiagnosable sinus issue. After multiple oral therapies, the decision was made to put him through rigorous blood and tissue sampling, as well as, a sedated HRCT scan to try to figure out what was going on. After all said and done, Embrace covered 65% of the near $3,000 bill. I actually had thought they would not cover anything given this was not yet a surgery. That may still be warranted, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

Worth it!

We wish we had Healthy Paws for our last dog who was diagnosed with Kidney Disease at six-years-old. We made the decision to obtain pet insurance for our current rescue pup-- and we already know that we made the right decision. The claims process is FAST and EASY! The staff members are always warm, welcoming, respectful, kind and considerate. We have referred multiple people to Healthy Paws based on our appreciation of their excellent service. It is worth it!

Really good over all

They've been very helpful over the years, and we've received good coverage. Just wish the monthly premium wouldn't go up so much each year. I believe my dog's coverage was initially under $80 monthly, and after 5 years, it's now almost $150.

Continual "pre-existing condition" denials

I cannot imagine how these positive reviews can be true and from real people. For example, there's this one: "Our dog has ear infections it seems almost constantly. Not only does trupanion help with all of those, we recently had to get surgery done on Jada's ear for an aural hematoma. The surgery cost us over $1300 and Trupanion paid us back almost $1200 for the surgery." The fact that there is a pre-existing ear condition, yet Trupanian supposedly is paying this claim is flatly unbelievable to me. The aural hematoma is caused by violent head-shaking, which is itself caused by the "almost constant" ear infections. So, if Trupanian was consistent in its claims assessment, this would be obviously a pre-existing condition. In our experience with our cat, Trupanian has managed to find extremely vague past symptoms, such as "coughing," and now denies ALL claims for recently diagnosed asthma, etc. We are out thousands in vet bills that we thought would obviously be paid, and we have paid Trupanian thousands in premiums. But every claim comes back denied, based upon the vaguest of "pre-existing condition" assertions. Perhaps back in 2011 Trupanian was better about paying than they are now. But at this point, we have filed repeated claims that are denied on the basis of "connecting" the vaguest and most general of symptoms, such that now they won't cover anything "related to" heart, lungs, or gastrointestinal tract for our kitty. So, we've paid them thousands, and basically our entire cat is a "pre-existing condition." We'll be canceling, and I cannot recommend Trupanian in the slightest! I would say, if you have a very young pet with no medical history, then, sure, get it insured. But if your pet has any medical history, at this point (in 2016), Trupanian will invent ingenious ways to "tie" one vague symptom to another and deny your claim. Class-action, anyone?

Don't use this coverage- Very shady delealings

You must give Trupanion a list of the vets your pet may have visited. Then as you turn in claims every claim becomes a "pre-existing condition" They do not tell you up front what conditions will be excluded, they just start collecting premiums. So as you submit claims, one by one you are told "pre-existing condition- so no coverage" My dog had surgery for something in his paw that caused a large swelling. Surgery was performed and the Surgeon left a message on my cell stating the findings were consitent to support a foreign body in the paw. You guessed it. Trupanion denied the claim as a pre-existing condition. Even when the recording was passed onto the Trupanion Rep and the claims people, they all went dark and no one would respond.

Great Support

ASPCA has done a wonderful job regarding my claims associated with my Bernese Mountain Dog -- two expensive claims for two different ALC injuries. Thank you ASPCA for your professional attention and quick claim resolutions -- much appreciated.

Simple process, great customer service

I'm trying not to be redundant but how do I not repeat all your other reviewers? Your claims process is simple, your customer service helpful and efficient, payments come quickly! Perhaps what is really so great about Embrace is that you sell a good product and follow through with exactly what you have promised! Rare these days! Thank you!

Never a hassle

We've had quite a few claims on our dog, as he's a hunting dog and tends to be quite active in the woods. Every claim I submit is processed without question, and without hassle. The customer service agents even call regularly to check and see how our dog is doing! This is an outstanding company.

Thank God for Healthy Pets!

Vinnie cracked a molar, which left exposed pulp. Our vet referred us to a veterinary dentist, who recommended a root canal and filling on that tooth. The estimate was nearly $2,000. Ouch! Thank God we have had Vinnie enrolled in Healthy Pets for nearly three years. Their claim filing process couldn't be easier...and within several days we had our check in hand! We will never be without Healthy Pets. It is such a reassuring feeling to know we can afford to take care of Vinnie no matter what happens!
