Trupanion is a pubicly traded company that is a business.
Trupanion bases their monthly cost on the area you live in and the breed. No consideration for any personal health issues regarding your dog. I started with Trupanion when the dog was 6 months old to lock in a low rate. Luckily he has few health issues but Trupanion has raised his rate from $50 monthly to now $215 monthly even though the dog has no health issues other than a medication that he takes that costs less than $50/month. They are completely impersonal and care more about their business than the individual dog owners and the dogs personal medical issues. I have been lucky to have a healthy dog but unlucky to have chosen Trupanion due to them raising the monthly cost more than 430% since I started with this insurance company. I understand this is a publicly traded company that cares more about its shareholders than any personal consideration for you or your dog's health. I have been totally ripped off by this company but have no other recourse other than to inform other pet owners to beware of this company that will more than quadruple your rates once you choose them to insure your pet.

Poor communication of documents needed for processing claim
Although I am glad to receive payment, I am not pleased with the claims process. My dog was treated for removal of porcupine needles in his mouth. This happened after hours and I needed to go to the on-call Vet that was covering for my dog's regular Vet. The claim was originally submitted in May 2020. The first hold up was the fact that the invoice number was different on the bill and on the receipt of when it was paid (which was the night of service) I kept getting messages that they needed the name, phone and address of Buddy's Veterinarian. I provided that. They then asked for my dogs records. I had my Vet send them. They kept asking for the records. I kept telling them that the Veterinarian office sent them. They then dropped the claim because of not receiving the records. I resubmitted the claim and finally talked to someone that told me that what they needed was the "doctor's notes" meaning the Notes of the doctor that was on call who had performed the removal of the porcupine quills, not the Records from his regular Vet. The whole experience was annoying. It took 3 months and lots of phone calls. Both Veterinarian offices were great in helping me. I told them that I would not recommend Pet's Best.

Healthy Paws is awesome, they are very supportive and filing a claim is simple and easy.
We have had insurance with Healthy Paws for the past 3 years. We have a very active Goldendoodle who is very active and has required medical treatment. Healthy Paws makes it easy. I take a picture on my phone and file my claim. This past week Riley had surgery. Healthy Paws reviewed and paid her claim within days. Any questions you can give them a call. They are always there! Great job !

Healthy Paws is awesome!
Healthy Paws is awesome! I have been a client for 3 years. Riley our Goldendoodle is very active and the insurance has been a life saver. She recently had surgery to repair her knee. The surgery was well over $5000.00. My policy is a payout of 80%. I pay roughly $50 a month. I submitted the bills and the claim was reviewed and reimbursement is on its way, Riley has not even gone for her post-op appointment. Healthy Paws is well worth it!! Accidents happen everyday. Make sure you pet is covered. Healthy Paws is always there for you!

Poor Customer Service and Very Slow Claim Processing
Submitting claims and signing up is very easy and before the last two months, I would've recommended them wholeheartedly. But the entire purpose of having pet insurance is to have a way to pay and be reimbursed for unexpected vet bills in a timely manner. The service has declined so much that now it's over a month to them to pay emergency claims. I noticed that normal wellness claims are still paid quickly but emergency claims are taking a month or more to process. They send out a generic email saying they are sorry (I've received it twice but no payment). If you contact support, they are not going to give you any answers about where you are in the queue and will tell you that the wait time has extended from your original estimate. No estimate of when your specific claim will be dealt with, all canned responses not specific to you. I absolutely understand covid has made things slower than normal,which is why I waited a month to even check on the claims. But this has been happening since May and it's end of August now. Since I have had a chronic condition with my pet, I've had to submit around 7 claims over the last few months. At some point it should start getting better, not worse.

I would like people to know about…
I would like people to know about Trupanion and the professionals they have working for them. A few weeks ago my dog Harley got severely sick and needed help and the cost was high. When I called Trupanion and explained my situation to Elizabeth without hesitation she started my claim so I could have my boy home with me and my family. I cannot say enough about the help I received from Trupanion I am very great full that I had them for my dog and recommend them to anyone who has a pet

I have insured my dog since he's been a 6 moth old pup
I have insured my dog since he's been a puppy through trupanion. My dog was diagnosed with a pretty rare disorder and he occurred some substantial vet bills. I paid the bills out of pocket thinking well if they just pay anything it would be a blessing. I was shocked when they paid exactly what the contract stated they would pay the full 90%. I have never been more pleased with a company and recommend them to anybody who'll listen. It's stressful enough to have your pet sick. But, having trupanion takes the daunting Financial aspect out of the equation so you can concentrate on your pet . Trupanion is totally a piece of mind for me and my family. susie
