As an owner of more than 30 dogs
As an owner of more than 30 dogs, cats, ferrets etc in the last 40 years, and as a Registered Nurse, I would not recommend getting insurance put on your pet. It is a lot of hassle. Anything your vet states can be used against you. My dog was vaccinated for Lyme disease and was bit buy a tick unfortunately causing Lyme disease. In her records the vet recommended she be treated for Lyme as a preventative at a cost of $50/month without realizing she was vaccinated and since I already had her vaccinated I didn’t feel I should have to do the preventative; otherwise, what’s the point of getting her vaccinated in the first place. Like, this is a $600/year preventative cost. That’s a lot of money they except you to pay out. Do we give our pets $50 preventative rabies medicine each month? No! The vaccines are supposed to be enough. The insurance won’t cover her Lyme disease due to this. Anything they can find to not cover, they will. The people in charge of the claims at Trupanion don’t pay attention properly to the information Infront of them. My dog has the extra Alternative coverage that I’ve been paying for two years and a claim was submitted and in their error they tried to say I didn’t have the coverage, which I proved I did. A really silly costly mistake on their part. This has happened several times and if I wasn’t doing my home work, it would have costed me large financially. Also, they pre-approved a place for the alternative coverage in error and now will not pay for my dog’s treatment even though their is no other place within hours that can offer my dog treatment for her condition. I don’t recommend any insurance coverage for your animals. It’s expensive and a hassle. My dog has five conditions, to which I’ve had to pay a deductible of $750 each time, 10%, and the taxes. You don’t really save, each vet visit is stressful as you have to watch very closely what your vet says it will be used against you. My dog has five conditions that apparently are not related therefore, I continue to pay large deductibles. I will never get insurance on my animals again as it’s a stressful experience and I don’t recommend you do either. The customer service agents are nice to deal with and although it’s appreciated, I’m here for insurance coverage at the end of the day.

Won't give me back us money for claims and they are rude and hang up frequently. They don't call back and are not knowledgeable DONT GET THEM get healthy paws pet insurance

We were so worried when our kitten ingested lily and had to spend four days in the hospital. Once our kitten was back home safe, we had still to face a big bill from the hospital. Luckily HealtyPaws was there for us and the whole process has been very straightforward. We uploaded all the documents on the website and in a matter of 2-3 days the claim was already processed. The reimbursement check was delivered within two weeks. Customer service was also very nice, contacting us in the following days asking aout the recovery of our little Giangatto.

You never really appreciate the…
You never really appreciate the importance of quality insurance coverage and customer service until you need it. Three weeks ago, my beloved Golden Retriever Autumn was diagnosed with meningitis. The last three weeks has been very difficult and very, very expensive. Autumn has been covered by Healthy Paws pet insurance since the age of one. We initiated coverage immediately following a very expensive medical procedure. We learned our lesson and she has been fully covered ever since. I am always amazed how swiftly my claims are processed and refunds are directly deposited into my checking account. The platform for claim submission could not be easier and Explanation of Benefit documentation is very clear. Most importantly, being able to focus on Autumn’s care and not on the mounting bills at a time like this is a true gift. Thank you Healthy Paws! I am pleased to report that Autumn is on the mend with a good prognosis.
