1st claim filed
It took longer to get my claim reimbursement than was originally promised, but they kept communication open about an increased number of claims at the time, and how they were not able to process claims as quickly as normal. I really appreciate that.. most companies would make you contact them first to get an explanation. This was my first claim, and I loved the explanation of reimbursement and how clearly it was broken down.

My Experience is getting better
UPDATE: Changing my review from 1 star to 3 based on a recent conversation I had with the manager. My claims are being worked. He spoke with the Vet on the phone to get all of the needed information since it was not being clearly communicated via fax and email. It took some work but I am thankful that the manager was able to resolve my issues. Previous Review: I am not sure where or how to being but dealing with AKC Pet insurance is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. It is stressful and time consuming. The customer service team is not knowledgeable and never have any information to share other then what is on my claims page on the website. I can read so I am not quite certain what the point is of having a customer service phone number unless it is strictly for people that cannot access their account information online. Every time a claim is rejected I get a sentence description of why it was not covered. The documents that are submitted with the claims are not thoroughly reviewed and it seems like they claims adjusters will do anything out of paying a claim if it is over a certain amount. I have been waiting over 1 1/2 months for a claim to be reviewed. When I called I was told it was because they waited 3 weeks to hear back from my vet. Which in fact is not my vet but an emergency vet that I have used in emergency situations although not in this one. This is the vet that diagnosed the previous claim that I had submitted. I understand wanting to get all of the information but I believe if they would have reached out to me to let me know that they were having trouble getting in contact with my vet I could have assisted instead they wait for me to call them to inquire to tell me this. Also, have they reached out to my vet? I have no idea. I was told I will get a call back from the manager later today or tomorrow. Please note that I have spoken to this manager on numerous occasions and also have been promised a call back from him more then once. It has been a month since I was supposed to receive my last call. This is ridiculous and a horrible way to do business. I actually believed that AKC Pet Insurance would be a reputable brand since they are associated with the AKC and recommended by them but I have been sadly mistaken. I asked who I should reach out to if I do not get what I need from the manager and I was told there was no one else. I know how businesses work. I let the customer rep know that I know that he has a manager and was told that she does not deal with customers. This is such a joke. And unfortunately the joke is on me. I guess the only route to go is to reach out to the Texas Department of Insurance and deal with them directly since I have tried working with AKC Pet Insurance directly and all I get is to be told I will get a call back.

Quick, Easy, & Caring!
Healthy Paws Pet Insurance has been an enormous help with our 1 year old puppy. After having expensive health problems with a previous pet and no insurance, we were determined not to make the same mistake again. Healthy Paws came highly rated at an incredible price. Before we knew it, our puppy had injured her knee and required major surgery. With each vet and hospital visit, we quickly and easily uploaded photos of our receipts to the Healthy Paws app and claims were processed in a week or less each time. Healthy Paws literally saved us thousands of dollars and took an enormous financial strain off our shoulders.

Great insurance for peace of mind
I have had a great experience with Healthy Paws, and I have recommended them to quite a few friends. They are quick to process invoices, and reimbursements happen quickly and as expected. Every vet bill we've received has been processed exactly as I would have expected, with no hidden fees or surprises, and no questions asked. My 3 year old pup has already needed 2 significant types of treatment, first, she was hospitalized for 2 nights when she was sick and became severely dehydrated as a result. Luckily, we only had to pay a fraction of her stay for around the clock monitoring and medications, so it made this scary time way less stressful. More recently, she needed a minor surgery, and we were glad to have Healthy Paws who covered it as expected. While we have been extremely satisfied and will be lifelong customers, I am a little disappointed at how much our rates have gone up over time. We were assured rate increases are not tied to usage or to breed/age, so I was surprised to see more than a $10 a month jump in our monthly fees for this year, which is why I took away a star.

Healthy Paws helps me take the best care of my pets
I have had several claims with two of my three dogs that have Healthy Paws pet insurance. My oldest dog, Grayson, had a collapsed lung a couple of years ago and I thought I was going to lose him. I was able to go to the emergency room with him and confidently say yes to all of the tests and x-rays they needed to diagnose him. When I was told that they could save him, but the surgery would cost $4500, I didn't have to make a hard decision because I knew Healthy Paws would cover most of the cost. When it was all said and done, I had spent almost $6500 and was reimbursed for a big chunk of that. I had not even spent that amount of money on premiums for my dogs yet! I love that there is an annual deductible and a no hassle claim process. Grayson is now much older and needs ongoing physical therapy (underwater treadmill, acupuncture, stability exercises) that he gets at a specialty referral hospital. Healthy Paws is covering that as well and now I can help Grayson stay happy and get stronger so that he can live his best life and enjoy his walks again.

Healthy Paws is the ONLY way to go!
Healthy Paws has always gone above and beyond to insure our rescue pups, and the amount of coverage for the price is beyond compare! We did our research before choosing an insurance company for our dogs, and Healthy Paws had better coverage for less of a monthly payment, with no limits on maximum dollar amount of coverage per year per dog. For example, one of our dogs had ACL surgery, and Healthy Paws covered 80% of the surgery! Thus, a potentially crippling $4000 + surgery became $1,000 dollars out of pocket for us, which not only made the surgery possible, but allowed us to choose the best surgeon for our furbaby. Also, they checked in on our pup to make sure all was well, and kept in contact with us throughout the whole process. Oh, and did I mention that claim submission is done via phone app, and reimbursement is directly deposited into your account? Who could ask for more? In the world of pet health insurance, Healthy Paws beats the competition by leaps and bounds!

Go elsewhere.
When I first enrolled, everything was great. I think the prices and coverage are better than the average pet insurance and they said claims are paid within 5 days- too good to be true I guess! Their selling point of a 5 day turn around time to get processed/reimbursed has NEVER happened with a single claim. I am still waiting to process a claim from January 2 (its January 30) and when I called, they said they are in a 30-45 day window currently. If we weren't so close to meeting our deductible, I would have cancelled already and signed up elsewhere. I will be cancelling when our policy year is over in the summer. Their customer service doesn't help- only keeps repeating the scripted response because I'm sure everyone is calling in and complaining about their service.
