Healthy paws has always been very quick and helpful on each claim that was submitted. They always provide a full explanation of benefits and are always there to answer any questions. They really take all the stress out of what can at times be a very stressful situation and allow you to focus on what you need to. They even go beyond with follow ups asking how your pet is doing after care and making sure everyone is well. Very happy I chose this company.

I absolutely loved this plan when I had it for my previous, now deceased, dog. The entire package was great...rates, plans, coverage, customer service. I chose the accident/illness/wellness plan (the premium plan), and stayed with the plan for many years, and the rate increased with time of course, but reasonably. Then when my dog turned 11, they raised my rate from $800 to $2400 saying that my dog was now old and would need extra care, hence the high rate. I could not afford this and cancelled the insurance. The company offered me coverage under a basic plan (barebones) for the price I used to pay for the premium plan, $800, but I felt like I was being price-gouged, and unappreciated for my previous business. Since I could not get a different insurance, because most companies will not insure an older dog in a new policy, my dog had no insurance from then until he died two years later. Luckily he did not require much vet care other than vaccines and an occasional treatment. Most companies will not cover pets for costly chronic conditions anyway, like cancer or organ failure, so I felt that it was outrageous that my rate increased like that after I had been such a loyal customer for years. I escalated this issue with the company's management to no avail...they were so rude as to inform me that in some years they actually paid me more for claims than what I had paid as my premium, so that I had in fact actually "made money" from my policy. Isn't that how it sometimes goes with insurance? What business do they think they are in? If their rates are not profitable enough for them, they should reset them, not drop or price-gouge loyal customers who would never have anticipated this action. Be sure to ask companies what their rate schedule is as the pet ages, and get a specific ceiling on the price before buying. Or plan that you might not have affordable pet insurance for older pets, regardless of how long you have had your policy.

The premiums can stretch a monthly budget for 2 pets with the thousand dollar deductible, but the coverage for my sick puppy has paid for itself and saved us quite a bit. The claims are easy to submit by fax, and the processing is usually complete, including bank deposit, within a week.

The vet took an x-ray and we agreed on starting a less invasive treatment for her injury, pain medication and two other types of pills. Never filed a pet insurance claim before so figured why not, all they can do is deny it. I filled out the top part of the claim form and my vet's office completed the rest and subitted it to Trupanion Pet Insurance. This was on a Thursday. I rec'd an email confirmation from Trupanion that day of receiving the claim. The next day, I rec'd another email from Trupanion advising me my claim is being processed. The following Wednesday, 6 days later, Trupanion notified me by email my claim was approved for the full amount allowed for what my policy covers. I received a reimbursement check a week later. Filing this claim was totally hassle free, no going back and forth, no submitting extra documents or forms. Especially being the first claim, it was very easy and fast. I wish I would have obtained pet insurance a long time ago. I highly recommend Trupanion Pet Insurance.

I have had Healthy Paws Pet Insurance for my cats for 2 years. I bought if after spending 2500.00 in 1 week treating an acute illness in my beloved cat, Nickie. We lost her as we were driving in the car to take her for a CT scan to find out why she stopped eating. She passed away in the car as we were driving 150 miles to get the scan.The next week we adopted Lexi from the animal shelter and decided to buy health insurance for Lexi and our other cat, Abby (who was age 12 at that time). We have had several claims for Abby and the service has been wonderful. Claims are processed in 24-48 hours and the coverage has been just as described on their website. Abby had an ultrasound last week and the claim was processed in 24 hours. She had some medication that I bought from a online provider and that claim was processed just as fast. I will keep my current pets insured with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance for their entire lives, and plan to insure any future pets with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. I feel confident that my pets will receive the care they need without my concern for how the bills will get paid. I only wish I had such good health insurance for me!

I faxed my claim on a Tuesday and that evening received an e-mail that my claim was being processed. By Thursday, 90% of my bill was approved to be reimbursed to me.
