A win for everyone...our pet, us and our vet

Signing up for Trupanion was easy and I appreciated the ability to choose a deductible that worked for our budget. I also like the fact that our vet is paid directly rather than having to cover large expenses up front and then submit a claim. Our vet likes the plan too. A win for everyone.

Surprisingly easy, great customer service, and no hidden clauses!

After a year of battling an unknown (at the time) skin allergy on our number one dog, we realized pet insurance would have been a good deal had we thought better of it before hand. My sister in law had just gone through a very tough medical experience with her pug and Healthy Paws covered over $9,000 worth of costs. That convinced us to get pet insurance. Number one dog proved to meet deductible just about every year with *other* issues. When we adopted our second mutt, he was already two and a large breed. We immediately purchased insurance through Healthy Paws for him as well. As in years prior, this year, it REALLY helped! To date, within this year's covered period, Clifford has exceeded $17,500 in vet bills for cancer removal and for repairing his Achilles tendon on both back hocks. We received over $15,000 in reimbursements. He is just about healed from his surgeries and should have physical therapy afterwards. Without pet insurance, I don't know many who could afford to properly take care of a dog like ours. The covered year isn't done, and we know we'll need more. I've only had one issue, and the issue was my lack of understanding. The customer service rep responded quickly and helped explain the issue. It was resolved within a couple of days. Payment always comes within a week, although they say it can take up to ten days. They offer direct deposit, and you can even have the claims filed by your vet. I find it just as easy to submit the claims myself. Thank you, Healthy Paws!

Overall I think it's a good insurance…

Overall I think it's a good insurance for Illnesses and Accidents. Except they really wanna find something in the past so that it can be taken as "pre-existing" condition. My dog has been to a dermatologist before we start the insurance and tested by pricking the skin. He showed allergies against dust, cat dander, some types of grass. Doctor reported as Atopic Dermatitis. Being said he had an ear infection and they didn't wanna cover it because the dermatologist report. Even though my dog's own vet don't believe it should be related, but Pets Best did. Also he gets staph infections he won't get covered, why? Because of atopic dermatitis he might be more prone to get staph infection. Not to mention they covered his cytology tests twice before but then stopped covering it. I also don't recommend their Wellness plan, If you live in an urban big city. Your bill is higher and the coverage is worthless as in whatever discount they offer in the plan. It's literally the total sum of your year long premiums. Other than that they are good. I do recommend them. If you get your pets insured as they are puppies you won't come close with any bumps on the road with them. Update: Dear Miss or Sir, I know the difference between insurance and a plan. I made my review very clear...We appealed twice with our vet's letter, thank you very much. I have a license as insurance adjuster so thanks.
