TPLO surgery

Our 3 year old Husky, Nikkita, just had TPLO surgery on her knee. It was so sad to see her limping and we felt it was necessary to see a specialist immediately. The specialist determined that she needed surgery and we had it done the following Monday. I sent in the invoice to Healthy Paws on Tuesday and it was accepted and the reimbursement was sent within a couple days, with a bill of over $3000. We even received an email from Healthy Paws checking up on little Nikki's progress. Thoughout the entire process, in addition to countless other vet visits, Healthy Paws has always been there for us. We will definitely be a lifelong partner and recommend them to any and all pet owners!

That Was Easy

We brought our pet in for a routine vaccine 3/12 and the receptionist encouraged us to sign up for the free 30 trial with Trupanion. She set up the account and we recieved the email later that day. Imagine my surprise when in less than 24 hours we were back at the vets 3/13 as our dog was lethargic and unable to walk. His body temp. had dropped, his heart heart was slow, and he was non responsive. He ended having to have fluids and stay overnight. Everything was happening so quickly and the expenses were rapidly increaseing. Suddendly I remembered the 30 day trail and asked about it never imagineing that it would cover anything but I was delgihtfully wrong as they stepped in to cover most of the expenses. Having pet insurance is well worth it.

Pleased

I bought a policy in June 2014 and have only had to make claims for Wellness visits so far. My cat is 9 and incredibly healthy. I'm very pleased with the customer service and the easy to understand contract. The first wellness claim that I had (flea medicine) was in September 2014 and it took a WHILE to get that pushed through. They were working on bettering their systems, they told me. Last week (March) I submitted a second Wellness claim (for routine blood work) and the reimbursement was in my bank account in literally 4 days. I was completely shocked (in a good way)! I'm leaving a 10 star rating for now until I can give a more rounded review as things progress with the company. I'm very interested to see how much the annual premiums actually increase upon renewal and how easy it will be to submit and be reimbursed for accident or illness claims. I do expect the premium to rise, of course, and if it is not a ridiculous amount then not only will I keep my policy but I'll add my other cat (4 year old) on there too.

Bladder Stone Surgery

Our male Morkie had suffered from two bladder infections which are fairly rare in male dogs. They did an xray after the medication didn't clear up the second one and found the bladder stone. Our vet recommended surgery and we went ahead. We submitted the claim going back to the time of the initial bladder infection and it was reviewed and all covered as per our policy. My only reason for not giving a 10 out of 10 is that no examination costs are covered. I understand and don't expect regular examination to be covered but once you have an issue and require follow up care only because of this condition I would have thought that would be covered. However all in all the people we dealt with were friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely concerned for the health of our pet. I would certainly recommend Trupanion to any pet owner. It is worth the peace of mind to know you will be able to deal with the expense of health emergencies for your pet.

I wish I would have had this insurance sooner!

This insurance is a must have! I used to have VPI for my other dog that had numerous health problems. He unfortunately passed away from cancer last year. Their fee schedule was an absolute joke as I believe it was from the stone ages. After taking in a stray dog we looked into a new insurance. Healthy Paws seemed like a good choice after reading the positive reviews and looking at their reimbursement practices. I just had to use if for the first time to have a growth removed from our dog. They literally processed the claim in a day. I received an email that our reimbursement check was on its way. I received it within 3 days total. VPI took weeks to send their piddly reimbursement check. Healthy Paws paid 90% of the claim and I could not be happier! They even sent a follow up email to check on Addie. I don't mind paying a little more for efficient service as well as a great reimbursement rate. The best part is that there is no cap! I wish I would have had it for my Boxer that was riddled with health problems from the start. Do yourself a favor and don't wait because veterinary care can be in the thousands. It will save you in the long run as we all want what is best for our pets.
