TRUPANION HELPS POOTER WALK AGAIN!!!
We're in the midst of our filing our first Trupanion claim in the three years that we've had Trupanion pet insurance for all three of our shelter dogs. Natalie, Tanya, and Jen, the three Trupanion representatives that we've worked with on this claim have been positive, patient, and professional, throughout! Tanya and Natalie helped us start the claim, obtained the needed records and estimate, and elevated it. As Claims Specialist, Jen, was able to push the CRITICAL pre-approval through the very same day! Thank you for helping us to be able to afford and obtain critical back surgery for our 3 y/o Shih Tzu Benjamin, aka Pooter. Were it not for having Trupanion, we might have been forced to make decisions based on our current (mid-pandemic) finances-- rather than the excellent prognosis for a full recovery that his surgeon affirms. We thank Natalie, Tanya, Jen, and the entire Trupanion team for helping to save Pooter's life and mobility. We are grateful! Daniel, Sequoia, and Alana (Hugs from us and tail wags from Pooter who is in recovery, as we write this).

False claims and rate increases
After telling me that I would “lock in” my pet’s insurance rate so I wouldn’t see significant rate increases, Trupanion has nearly doubled my monthly premium in just 3 years. I’d call that false advertising and making a false claim. I’ve never even made a claim to warrant such a large increase. They told me that the increase was due to my state and local area. That the increase was done so I wouldn’t see the rate “skyrocket”. To me, nearly doubling the rate in 3 years is the very definition of a skyrocketing rate. When we move in 3 months, I’ll be canceling my insurance with Trupanion. I urge you to consider my story before signing anything with them. If you’re fine with your rate nearly doubling every 3 years, then sign away. UPDATE: I see they have responded with a non-response. My indoor cat has had no changes in health. She goes once per year for a physical. I’ve never filed a claim. Trupanion nearly doubled the monthly rate on a indoor cat that just turned 5 with no health problems. So AGAIN, I reiterate that if you want unjustified monthly increases on your premium so that it nearly doubles every 3 years, use Trupanion. Otherwise, I’d find another insurer. And I already called them about this issue, which is why I’ve posted this negative review. They stand by their decision to skyrocket their rates for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Rates/coverage better than others
I shopped around and ASPCA had the best rates for the coverages offered. I enrolled on a Friday and didn't get my "welcome" email until several days later, even tho my credit card was charged right away. So I couldn't setup my online account to access my policy documents. (Not a good first impression). I ended up calling calling Monday and customer svc sent me an email to activate my online account. I must say the rep was awesome and prompt! I finally received my "welcome" email on Wednesday lol, but by then I'd already resolved the issue.
