I very disappointed in this company my one year old English bulldog ended up with aspiration pneumonia and was very sick . We took him to an animal hospital because he started vomiting on a Sunday and his vet office was closed. They kepted telling us how Expensive the bill was going to be we understood all of that told them he had insurance they were happy to know that. He had one overnight stay and had to be in an oxygen box to help with his breathing. We found comfort in knowing we had him on insurance when this happened only when I submitted everything and it was denied for us to get anything back. We was going to renew his policy but not after finding out that won't cover any of this bill!!! Update I have called them very Frustrated wondering why and the lady informed me that they needed a an invoice of every single thing and was charged. Well that was the one thing I didn't have so then I had to call the animal hospital and they sent it email to me and I emailed that to them have yet to hear if they're going to do anything with that since they claimed that was the reason they denied our claim.

Grateful to have Healthy Paws Pet Insurance

I signed up with Healthy Paws when I got my puppy in 2021. My monthly rate has increased by about $20 in the four years I’ve had it and my pup is very steady and is not accident prone, so I considered canceling earlier this year. Thank goodness I didn’t! She had a serious digestive issue which would have cost us $1600 in vet bills, Healthy Paws helped significantly with that and enabled me to feel comfortable pursuing further testing than I could have afforded on my own. About a month later my pup stepped on a bee and threw up. I decided to take her to the ER vet to be safe because I knew that I had insurance to help cover that, and thank goodness I didn’t! Anaphylaxis presents as GI issues in dogs and she was having a reaction from the sting that required immediate treatment. I was able to submit my claim from the vets office, and received updates and a clear breakdown of reimbursement within 24hrs. It’s been a little over a week and the Healthy Paws team reached out to follow up on how she is doing which I appreciated. Very grateful for their help in minimizing the stress that can come about from emergency vet care and the costs associated with it, it’s allowed me to be a better advocate and guardian for my dog.

Go with another insurance company

I’m learning the hard way that this is the pet insurance company that I should have bypassed for another. They were promoted, or affiliated with USAA which has all of my insurance policies, so I went with them. This is your typical “first option is to deny” insurance companies that they are so famous for. We had to take our French Bulldog to an emergency vet because he vomited and inhaled some of it and could have caused pneumonia. Our dog has a pre-existing condition for “noisy breathing” whatever that is? He’s a frenchie, they snort. Otherwise he’s a healthy dog. However, since aspirating some of his vomit affected his lungs (not sure how that wouldn’t) they denied our illness claim. So since an illness touched his lungs, it’s not covered even though his breathing didn’t cause the illness. Hypothetically, If a large dog bit my dog in the chest and punctured one of his lungs, I’m pretty sure Embrace would deny that claim, as they would claim that his “noisy breathing” played a roll in that injury. I am beside myself and will be shopping for insurance with another company.

Great first time experience

I recently had the opportunity to use SPOT insurance for the first time, and I must say it was a fantastic experience. The website was user-friendly and intuitive, making the process seamless. I appreciated how quickly they processed my claim, and I was pleasantly surprised to receive the check in a timely manner. Overall, I highly recommend SPOT insurance for anyone looking for reliable and efficient coverage.
