Healthy Paws is easy to use and has been a lifesaver
As a type A pet parent and graduate student, I knew pretty early on that I wanted to get my puppy an insurance plan. I activated the insurance the day that I got her, and here we are, almost a year later, and it has paid for itself. When my puppy started having some chronic GI tract issues, we were confident that we could get whatever tests and medical help she needed because she was insured. Healthy Paws' mobile claim entry is so easy to use; just take a picture, and press submit. Eventually, we had to get a referral to a University Veterinary Center, as we couldn't really figure out what was going on. I was worried at first about the expense, but knowing that I could use Healthy Paws reassured me that we could do whatever we needed to for our puppy's health. She is doing a lot better now, and I thank my lucky stars that we invested in Healthy Paws early on.

Once again, a great experience!
Once again, Trupanion came through when my cat Tulip had an emergency situation. She was treated at a couple of places, and is now home and recooperating! I made the claim right away, and Trupanion reimbursed within a week. They were an absolute life saver in 2017 when my frenchie had to have emergency surgery. They worked directly with the hospital which was great help! I've been with Trupanion for years, and simply wouldn't go anywhere else.

Amazing Service and Support from Trupanion
My puppy Mischievous Maria was admitted to the Animal Hospital with severe vomiting and diarrhea. I place a call to Trupanion and was reassured that the claims process would be handled seamlessly. Kathy from Trupanion explained how to submit the claims once I had the invoices. I submitted my claims on July 4th and received confirmation that my claims had been processed and paid on July 6th. Outstanding product, processing and customer service. Thank you for making life so much easier during difficult times. I am happy to say that Mischievous Maria has made a full recovery and has returned to good health.

The buying experience was seamless
The buying experience was seamless. I got my puppy at a shelter and am very happy with him. I want to make sure he is healthy, especially the first couple years of his life so I took extra insurance in these formable years. I hope the rest of the experience is as good as the purchase.

Avoid Trupanion
Absolutely disgusting that they are denying my dogs claim that he had a hot spot due to pre-existing conditions that are not related. We recently had a massive heatwave in the northwest, record breaking temps in our area, and my vets office was seeing more and more dogs coming in with hotspots due to excessive heat and moisture trapping. My pup during this heat wave developed a hot spot, we took him to the vet and he had to be sedated and given a round of antibiotics, animax and steroids. Trupanion says that because my dog has had hot spots before and they seems to confused conjunctivitis with a hot spot even though that was an eye related issue m. They say that they cannot do this claim because he has “allergies”. When i talked to the rep she argued with me about how my dog breed is prone to allergies when my vets progressional opinion shows that my dog DOES NOT have allergies. My vet has ruled out allergies that my dog has and was clear that this was due to the excessive heat and trapped moisture with us trying to keep our dog cool. A 450 dollar vet visit is not being applied to my deductible nor am I being reimbursed. This is absolutely ridiculous to ASSUME my dog has allergies when there is ZERO indication that my dog has allergies in his medical files. I switched to Trupanion because of their rave reviews and ease of billing since my vet has direct pay but thinking I should’ve stayed with Nationwide if everytime I take my dog to the vet they are going to say it’s a pre existing condition. Now I am left with filing an appeal and asking my vet to write a letter which is an astronomical waste of time. The hotspot developed during my coverage and that’s what matters. If my dog was diagnosed with allergies then that’s different but nothing on his record shows that. Having looked through their reviews it’s clear this is a pattern of behavior. I think I’ll switch back to nationwide.

Poor Customer Service
Extremely disappointed in how difficult it is to get any updates on a claim. I submitted three claims within two weeks of each other and waited over a month before any of them were processed. I tried calling and web chatting Pets Best on numerous occasions and could not get in touch with a single live person (after sitting on hold for 30+ mins).
