First time I bought pet insurance

I Was referred to Trupanion from my new vet when I took my puppy to get neutered. They said it had a 30 day free trial so I thought why not. When I can the rep was very informative that I went ahead and signed up and boy an I glad I did! Just a few weeks later my puppy started having intestinal issues, the issues lingered and had taken many vet visits and multiple tests that quickly added up to close to 1,000! Trupanion had paid what I expected per the policy and had really saved me. My sweet puppy still is having trouble so it isn't over but the reassurance that whatever comes or way he is covered and I don't have to choose between labs and tests or money. And to think I haven't made the first premium payment yet! I have recommended to everyone to consider insurance. My thought at the beginning was I can afford a small monthly payment, but I can't afford hundreds out thousands all at once. Extremely happy :)

Fast to settle claim

It was very fast to settle the claim. I have recommended Embrace to friends looking for pet insurance.

Nationwide (VPI) Pet Insurance Absolutely Terrible

I was a long time VPI / Nationwide Pet Insurance policy holder and can attest to this company being one of the worst, least trustworthy, companies operating in the country. Unfortunately they do not really care about pets and behind their policies they construct absurd benefit schedules that severely limit how much money they will pay their clients no matter whether your pet suffers mild illnesses or need life-threatening surgery. I have spoken with many veterinarians, including my own, that all push their clients away from Nationwide and say they are the absolutely worst pet insurance company by far. If you care about your pet and want to be reimbursed appropriate sums of money for your vet bills, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER Nationwide. They are snakes who do everything they can to avoid paying you and when crisis comes, they will scour their extensive restriction list to ensure they pay you as little (or nothing) as they can. ANY other pet insurance company is far superior to these crooks.

Very Good Insurance Company

Embrace handles claims promptly and payments are made complete as per the insurance contract. The price is very reasonable for peace of mind that it provides.

We love our Healthy Paws!

When I first got pet insurance for our Golden Retriever, people thought I was silly. However, after a trip to the emergency department with him and no insurance, I didn't want to risk it. We signed up when Lutsen was a year and a half old and I couldn't be happier with my decision. This past July, he was diagnosed with severe hip displasia and we were devastated. Having enrolled in Healthy Paws over 3 years ago, meant his surgery and all things involving his care would be covered based on the plan we chose. It was such a relief to know I didn't have to worry about paying out of pocket for everything which amounted to thousands! They even emailed a week after Lutsen's surgery just to see how he was doing. I was so impressed!! As for payments, I was reimbursed within a week and every single time I called their customer service department, I was well taken care of. Not only is this a fantastic company, with their prompt response to my and Lutsen's needs, but the people they hire are the nicest and the most knowledgable and well trained individuals I've ever worked with. I could go on and on about how wonderful of a decision you are making by trusting your pet's care with Healthy Paws but you most certainly should try them yourself!

Don't believe all the "great ratings"

Trupanion has turned out to be worse than medical insurance used to be for people. They do try on's to make everything but the most obvious pay the $100 deductible. They go out of there way trying not to pay at all by stating "pre existing conditions if your animal has not been insured from the start. Then you have to go back and forth from your doctor to them, which I'm sure they hope you will say "it's not worth it". I have three pets, two unfortunately with Trupanion that we are stuck with and one with Pet Plan, by far superior.

Great customer service and quick claim servicing

My entire experience with Healthy Paws was so incredibly positive. We had a scare with our mini doxie requiring emergency surgery, and when I called to clarify some billing/logistical issues, the rep I spoke with reassured me that the most important thing was our dog's health. It was so reassuring to hear that at the time. All three of her emergency room claims were paid very quickly and I could not be happier with their customer support and compassion!

Health Insurance Review

I've had insurance since Lucy was puppy. A friend recommended insurance saying it seemed whenever her dog had problems it would be an emergency which can be more costly. She also recommend ASPCA. I have never had a problem with this insurance. Claims are paid and if not, explained exactly why. I think the rates are a little high but. It is definitely worth the peace of mind. I don't hesitate to get Lucy the healthcare she needs

Embrace cannot be beat!

We purchased Embrace when we first got our new puppy in 2012, primarily because our previous dog had degenerative valve disease, and was uninsured. The vet bills were horrendous, but we did everything we could do for her, including a trip to Michigan State for experimental heart valve repair surgery. She died on the table, but we felt we gave her our best shot. Then came Trudi. She had an unremarkable medical history for the first four years of her life--and then began having seizures. Not only is she epileptic, but she has been something of a brittle epileptic. Even after two drug changes she was having too many seizures, and then began to have more than one seizure in a single day, which has twice required hospitalization. Through all of this, the Embrace staff and company have been nothing but kind and helpful and prompt to help with the bills. My husband and I are in our late 70's, and are truly appreciative. We are also optimistic that a juggling of meds finally has Trudi's seizures down to a manageable level.
