Peace of Mind

I have been a customer for almost 10 years. It is a way to manage the cost of pet care. When an unexpected illness or accident happens, it is such a comfort to know you can concentrate on your pet rather than the cost. Yes, there is a monthly fee, but most of the time you break even, especially as your pet ages. I would recommend that everyone getting a pet to invest in insurance. This company has been very easy to work with over the years. I have insured three dogs with PetFirst and it has always been worth it!

Embrace cares about my senior dog

Maggie is 10 years old with crippling arthritis. Embrace covers a sizeable amount of the costs for medication she needs. With the medication Maggie's quality of life is good.

So thankful for Healthy Paws!

When we got our dog Frank from a well established breeder, we never dreamt that we would be faced with thousands of dollars in medical expenses in the first six months of welcoming him into our family. Frank has been such a great addition and we love him very much but unfortunately, he has a fairly bad immune system and we have made countless trips to the vet. Our vet recommended pet insurance at our first visit with Frank and to be honest, I never thought we would have to use it. I could not have been more wrong. Frank has had pretty much every diagnostic test you can imagine. He's been on several antibiotics and for a while it felt like we were spending more time at the vets office than not. Seeing him in pain and sick is stressful enough but having to shoulder the financial burden of a sick pet makes it even worse. Working with Healthy Paws through all of our claims has been so easy. Filing claims is all done online and they are generally processed within a few days. The only time it took longer than that was with our first claim because Frank's medical history needed to be retrieved from the vet. We have received all of our reimbursement checks incredibly fast, as well. I cannot say enough good things about our experience with Healthy Paws.

Thank you ASPCA

ASPCA insurance has been incredible. Covered most of the expenses without any problem. I took the insurance out on my adopted little poodle and now I am thinking of taking it for my cats. I would recommend it highly

Stay away from this carrier.

Nothing but a big hassle with this carrier. I have had nothing but issues since insuring our puppy with this insurance carrier. Two weeks after we picked up our puppy, we had to take her for her first veterinary visit. It turned out she had an UTI. I submitted the claim and after several months, we were turned down for any reimbursement. I called and found out that the insurance adjuster determined that our puppy had a pre-existing condition! The notes stated that we said she had been having accidents in the house prior to her veterinary visit. No kidding, of course she was having accidents in the house, we were still in the process of house training her! This company is also VERY slow in processing claims and sending reimbursement checks. I would suggest going one of the several pet insurance comparison websites and shop around. I am still trying to appeal the claim, until then I cannot move to another carrier. I have already found a new one that offers much better coverage for a lower cost (and also has a higher rating). The company that we used prior to Pet First was much better at processing claims, but they became far too expensive. Please shop around. Buyer beware.

Awesome support once again!

I've had Healthy Paws since my frenchie was 1 month old and they have consistently provided excellent service. Their insurance payouts are just as described and it's always been very clear to me what is covered (emergencies and conditions developed during policy length) and what is not (preventative care and vaccinations). This year my pup (3.5 years) had to have a major surgery on his back and during this extremely stressful time, I was happy to have healthy paws on my side as I knew I could focus on the important part of taking care of him vs stressing out over medical bills.

Premium spike--more than double, no explantion

I've had insurance through this company on my Siberian cat since I got her in 2005. The annual premiums started about around $250 and increased to $278 over time, then suddenly spiked to $580 this year, without notice or explanation. My annual vet benefits are $3000, so the premium is nearly 20 percent of the max I could ever recover. After a long wait on hold, a rep basically told me that they changed underwriters and could do whatever they wanted. I suspect they are jacking up premiums on older pets to force the owners to drop the policies before the company has to start paying big claims. I made a claim in 2015, but he could not tell me if that had anything to do with the rate increase. The rep could only say everything about setting rates is "contextual." If I pay this year, there's nothing to prevent them from doubling the premium again next year. I don't really know how to rate the company because others may be just as bad, so I'm giving it a 4.

Terrible Since Nationwide Bought Them

I was a customer with VIP insurance for years. Then, Nationwide took it over. They are terrible. They deny claims on the smallest pretext. For my latest claim, they denied coverage for a fecal exam that was necessary to determine why my dog had diarrhea. They claimed that "wellness" procedures are not covered under the policy. When I explained to them that this procedure was not done as part of a routine exam but was necessary to determine why he was sick, they would not budge. It's the most rediculous reasoning I've ever heard from an insurance company -- and I used to work for one. The total bill was $260, of which they paid $48. In the meantime, my premiums are over $900 a year. DON'T BUY THIS INSURANCE! You'd be better off saving money in an interest-bearing account and using it when your pet gets sick.

Best Pet Insurance

This insurance has been great so far, I've had other policies and shopped around and you cannot beat their service and price. I have had my newest member, our lovely little pup, for 6 months and she unfortunately gotten into something at the park which we then had to rush her to the emergency clinic at 8pm.. I submitted everything to PetsBest and received an email of the EOB within a week or so and I am just now waiting on my check. Every time I need help they are always so friendly and helpful.
