When I started sending in the paperwork, the money Nationwide returned helped us so much with her surgery. Thank you so much. Just like any insurance, most of the time you have it & don't need it, BUT when you DO need it, they've been wonderful

Sent my claim in. As always it was handled by the next day. Email confirmation And I have the check mailed so it does take a few days after mailing

Grateful we have health insurance for our dog. He's got some serious challenges coming up and we're hoping for serious coverage.

Healthy Paws used every delay tactic in the book to deny my dog's claims for life-threatening cancer. It took getting a consumer reporter from a major newspaper involved for them to cover the claims, as they should have from the beginning. The company says it makes its claims decisions based on the medical records. This is false. Healthy Paws had absolutely everything they needed in the medical records to cover my dog's claims, including the histopathology report and letters from her oncologist and surgeon. I tried for three weeks to get my claims adjuster on the phone, with no luck and no return phone calls. I finally gave up on that and requested a third-party review. The results from that review--which found in my favor--took nearly two months, and coincidentally were received the very same day that Healthy Paws was contacted by the consumer reporter. This case never should have gone to a third-party review in the first place, as the facts in the medical record were clear. Meanwhile, my dog's life and longevity have been put in danger by Healthy Paws' delays. The only reason I am giving more than one star is that they cover alternative treatments such as physical therapy and acupuncture. I cannot express how disappointed I am in this company.

We have had Nationwide (formerly VPI) pet insurance since our 12 year old beagle/basset was a puppy. The claims are processed quickly and benefits received promptly. The Major Medical plan is great for us, especially now as our dog ages. It covers so much and we don't hesitate to take her to the vet because we know we will get most or all of our expenses reimbursed. Yes, it is a bit pricey, but well worth the cost to keep our pet well and happy.
