Going with HealthyPaws was the smartest pet decision we ever made.
Our poor dog needed his dog equivalent to an ACL repaired. What should have been a relatively normal recovery turned into a nightmare. We ended up getting X-rays every month for the last 8 months, plus a couple pain management overnight stays. HealthyPaws not only processed our claims remarkably fast, but also sent us personalized emails checking in on his recovery. Well now that he’s had his third procedure we think he’s finally in the homestretch. Without HealthyPaws his suffering could have been much worse.

Serious privacy concern
On paper, the plan looks good. In reality, we have been fortunate not needing it. I am rating Figo one star because it's website recommends me to activate third party cookies. Why my web browser needs to be tracked? The Claims webpage is a bit of a mess. The "File a claim" button is far on the right, out of your screen frame; You need to set your screen zoom level to 90% to get it in. The phone agent told me it was a puzzling issue. Still hanging on there!

This company has too many preexisting conditions they add for senior age dogs
Here’s my experience- purchased a plan for $107 a month for my 9 year old cane corso. Had my vet send Kaya’s health records so I would know everything they consider preexisting conditions. I had a feeling there would be a few things bc she’s 9, but let me tell you- they got back to me 2 weeks later telling me that they won’t cover basically ANYTHING. There were things under preexisting that the vet has never said are a problem! They said she has plaque buildup yet the vet has always said she has perfect teeth and does not even need to get a cleaning. They also said that she has arthritis so any hip problems are preexisting which has never been diagnosed. Her Vet has always said her mobility is fine. And they said any cancer &/or lumps will not be covered bc she has had a few (we had them all tested and none were cancer so idk how they can exclude cancer as preexisting). Also, bc I called the office to ask about swallowing something (she had not actually swallowed anything, it was a phone conversation) so Embrace said that’s not covered either. Now I’ve been waiting on the phone for 30 minutes to try to cancel my plan which is also an issue bc they pick up right away to sell you a plan. Overall I do NOT recommend this company.

Invaluable Insurance
Having lost our Golden Retriever to cancer (Melanoma) and paying thousands of dollars for chemo treatments (only gave him approximately two months life extension) I made the decision to take out pet insurance on our next dog. In 2009 I took out a Trupanion policy on our dog, Bryce, a German Shep/Chow and Boxer mix, now twelve soon to be thirteen, and yes, he has cancer. Trupanion has enabled me to give him specialized consults with the oncology vet, ultrasounds, X-Rays and the best of care and at present, he's doing well overall. I highly encourage anyone considering a pet to please take out pet insurance - it's worth every cent of your monthly payment. With Trupanion, reimbursements are prompt and online claim forms are incredibly easy. Our pets never, ever live long enough but ensuring they receive the best care throughout life is possible with pet insurance - again, in our case - Trupanion.

Very easy process
Very easy process. I paid my vet, uploaded my itemized statement AND all medical records to the Healthy Paws site, then filed my claim. It was approved in 2 days, and I received a check in less than a week. Insurance for humans should be this simple!
