Trupanion has greatly declined over the 10 years I have been with them. Rates continuously increase, claims don't processes without you staying on top of them. The employee's apologize for delays but its constant. I only have 1 dog left with Trupanion my other 4 are with another insurance at this point.

Questionable increases on rates
I’ve had my pet insured with Healthy Paws for almost 5 years and overall they’ve covered much less than half of my emergency visits I’ve had. They’ve been increasing my monthly rate every year now, most recently almost double the current monthly. Most likely they’ve taken into account the age of my pet and trying to get me to quit the policy so they can profit from my previous years of coverage. They advertise how much you save you and care about your pet but the bottom line is that they’re an insurance company that is only looking out for their bottom line. I suspect this probably goes for many of their competitors. Ultimately if you can afford it it may be worth it to buy insurance for your pet but not with Healthy Paws due to their recent price increases.

We may have lost our girl without Trupanion
Somehow our one year old puppy got ahold of a rib bone. We do not feed them any human food or give them bones as treats so she must have gotten it out of the trash or off the counter without us knowing. She needed an exploratory laparotomy procedure done and the hospital gave us a $5-6,000 estimate. Without Trupanion insurance I wouldn’t have felt comfortable or really been able to approve that and move forward. We wouldn’t have been able to afford that treatment for our baby without knowing it was coming back. So now we are home with our baby girl and she is healing well and our claim has already been approved and going to be direct deposited to our bank account!!

Don't bother with any other providers, the easiest, most fair, and willing to help is trupanion
I have had trupanion for 2 years. About 6 months into coverage my dog hurt her acl and needed surgery. There was no questions asked, friendly, knowledgeable staff when I called trupanion to ask them exactly what I do to have the procedure covered. All i had to do was fill out a 1-2 form and send my receipts. I received my payment from them 6 days later. I had used 2 other providers in the past and they were rated #1 or 2 on a few websites. They were nothing like trupanion. I have recommended trupanion to multiple co workers and friends. Most now have coverage and only 1 has used there coverage so far. They couldn't believe how fast they were paid from their claim and how easy it is. Use trupanion, you will be thankful you have them when you need to take your pet to the vet.
