Although it's a bit expensive for someone like me and they don't cover everything I'm still glad to have it for major things.

Because I feel that insurance for dogs should be like insurance is for humans.
Because I feel that insurance for dogs should be like insurance is for humans. You pay a monthly payment and you should get full coverage. To me it’s like insurance companies are getting rich with all these monthly payments from all its members while we pay an enormous amount for an accident to happen or a n emergency to arise. What if an emergency doesn’t happen for 12 yrs. My payment of $165 per month has accumulated to over $18,000! And for those of us that that take great care of our pets are being penalized for being great parents to our fur babies! Not fair honestly!

I find the pricing way too high.
I find the pricing way too high. My own insurance costs less than my dogs, and I use mine every month but Reeses a few times a year. You also do not cover teeth cleaning, which is a fundamental part of keeping your dog healthy. Staff are friendly, and knowledgeable, but you need to update your pricing. My friend has 3 dogs and pays what I pay for my one dog.

Dont waste your money. Your better off putting it into savings and building an emergency fund
Waste of money. Claim after claim they deny coverage. one of our dogs was born with a recessed vulva (common in breed and many dogs) which most dogs will grow out of. She developed a UTI after a few months. Because the recessed vulva can lead to an UTI and noted at her birth it was a "pre-existing condition" (their perfect excuse not to pay) they not only refused to cover any related claims but stated any issue from her vagina through her urinary tract system would not be covered now or in the future. That's one example. They make excuses and rule out for anything moving forward based on "pre-existing condition" which they interpret to be anything related to the body part noted and anything attached to such. What's most frustrating is your premium is based upon the breed and likely common illness (risk for insurance claims) associated with those breeds. For our mastiffs it is a fairly healthy premium. Fair enough IF they then covered such illnesses that justify those premiums. These companies want it both ways. Justify the high premium then deny claims. Waste of money. Our yearly cost for both dogs was $2052. You'd be better off saving that money in an emergency account and in a year or two you'd have enough for most major incidents which was the reason we initially got it. And in disclosure we were huge proponents of pet insurance. Before her passing we carried insurance for our last mastiff for 8 plus years. in disclosure it was another provider and they denied a couple claims as well but overall felt they were fair. However our experience, premiums have doubled with the new dogs and claim approval basically nil. Save your money they are not honest nor will it provide you any assurance they are there for your pet. I know the $2000 will be in my account and accessible. Why pay them $160 + a month for weeks of submission and discussions to find they applied 10% to a deductible ($500) which will never be met with their games. Tis game should be illegal to be honest.

90% coverage saved me so much money
Absolutely a wallet saver. My 7yo female Persian mix has hyperthyroidism and required a few senior blood panels to get the correct dosage of medication. Each panel costing roughly $300/each time. Trupanion covered 90% of the cost. Thank you for making pet care easier.

Worth the peace of mind
Pet insurance seems like a good idea considering how much was paid for the pup as well as all of the possible ailments of the breed. Trupanion customer service was very nice and the sign up was easy.

Terrible service
After over a year being insured with PetsBest, and a few trips to the vet for minor problems, I received very few reimbursements for my puppy’s health care and I feel like I’m throwing money out the window. Customer service is useless when reachable. Processing time is over a month to be told that everything that is happening to my dog is prior to signing the insurance policy. I took the insurance she wasn’t even a year old so I don’t see what can be prior existing conditions in my case. She is healthy just need vaccines, tick disease test and sometimes she hurts herself while playing. She is small and has a lot of energy so to me this is very normal. I’m not satisfied at all and after filing this last claim today, if service does not get better I’ll be looking for another insurance policy.

There When We Needed Them The Most
We purchased pet insurance because we never wanted to be in a position to have to choose between our pet's health and the cost of major health issues. We chose Healthy Paws because of its reasonable premiums, fast claims turnaround, and easy to understand policy. When our dog was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer, Healthy Paws lived up to our decision to choose them. I would highly recommend pet insurance and Healthy Paws is our #1 choice!!!
