Within 9 months of adopting my dog, I realized he was too high-energy and accident-prone to not have pet insurance, and I was right! Over the winter he slipped while playing in the snow and tore a ligament in his knee and needed surgery. All told, the cost for surgery, x-rays, and vet visits was close to $7,000. I only ended up paying about $1,500 (and I had been paying about $300 per year for Embrace insurance, so well worth it). My claim was processed in less than two weeks. Pet insurance is not cheap, but the whole experience with Embrace gave me a lot of relief during a stressful time with my dog.

BEST Pet Insurance EVER!!!
I have 2 small breed dogs (Shih Tzu/ Maltese mixed and Biewer Yorkie mixed) and I have enrolled my dogs since 12/05/2014, when they were about 4 and 5 years old. After a very thorough research and analysis of all the pet policies out there, Healthy Paws was the most affordable one with great benefits. I paid about $80-90 for both dogs per month with a 90% reimbursement and $100 deductible per year and there are no caps on claims. It doesn't cover preventative care but enrolling in Healthy Paws Pet Insurance gave me a peace of mind that I will be able to afford medical care for my dogs in case they needed it. My dogs are generally healthy and I didn't have to submit any claims but one minor one until recently... In 2018 of this year, both of my dogs whose about 7 and 8 years old now needed surgery. One of them had an emergency anal gland ruptured, he had a fever and inflammation. The vet bill was about $2,500+ and Healthy Paws reimbursed 90% of it minus $100 annual deductible. After the annual deductible is met, it was no longer deducted for the year, no matter how many or how much claims I have submitted. Submitting the claim was super easy which can be done through email, their website or even the app. And the turn around time was within 10 business days I had a direct deposit for my claim! The customer service was excellent with very prompt processing time. My other dog whose almost 7 had cataracts and his vision was impaired and he couldn't see. So we decided to bring him to a specialist to get his cataract surgery done for both of his eyes. The vet bill was really expensive and cost more than $5,500+ with all the medications he needed! Health Paws reimbursed me 90% of it within a week, which was like over $4,800+ of claims submitted, I am really grateful that I was able to pay all of my credit card bills without any problems! I find that Healthy Paws Insurance policy is very clear and the effective date of protection is what really matters! Most pet insurance policies doesn't cover pre-existing conditions, therefore, its BEST to enrolled your pet before it's too late. I am very glad and have no regrets that I made the RIGHT and BEST CHOICE to enrolled my two dogs under Healthy Paws because I know that my dogs will be able to get medical care that they need when they need it. I love that you can contact their customer service if you have any questions and concerns or follow up on claim status.. They are very responsive and when you submit your claims, rest assured that you will be reimbursed for your policy reimbursement level!! Not worth the monthly payment.
I pay around $40 a month for this service, the deductible is $250. At the end of the day my bill was nearly $400 I only got back just over $8. This service was worthless to me. I paid more month and expected to receive more I might as well save my monthly payments in a personal account set aside for my pet and have that money to use in an emergency instead of only getting such a tiny refund.

Every claim we make our premium seems to then go up and has become unaffordable.
Every claim we make our premium seems to then go up and has become unaffordable. The last claim was closed while we were away and the claims center ASSUMED even tho it said recurring leg issue it couldn’t be related to our dogs previous surgery. No phone call. Was not impressed being charged a deductible. The issue was resolved by paperwork and having to involve the vet again and take away from her work after she already filled forms out at time of first appointment.

Excellent wellness coverage!!!
I, luckily, have had no occasion to use the accident/illness coverage for my three kitties, two are 11 months and the third is five months, however, I have loved the wellness coverage and have gotten over $400 paid back to me, not including spaying or neutering!

Very smooth process. Fast and easy process for claims!
So far so good. Rate for one year was very reasonable. Not having owned a pet was little confusing but I was able to insure our puppy very easily. I have had several claims and all of them have been paid within 2-3 weeks of submission. Glad, I chose Nationwide!
