Love the ease
I have been with Pets Best for many years - with my 3 cats and 1 dog. I love the ease of the claim submission process and that the claims are paid relatively quickly - direct deposited to my bank account!

Good, Reliable Insurance
I’m please with Nationwide Pet Insurance and would recommend it for anyone. While not cheap, they do cover things. The problem I see is they’re slow but what insurance company isn’t!?!

Doesn't cover accidents or emergencies
We have had insurance with Nationwide for our two dogs for five years. We pay $30 per month for each dog with a $250 deductible. Our dog recently accidentally ingested grapes and we had to take him to the Animal ER. Because grapes may cause renal failure and he could have died, he was required to stay in the hospital for two days. This included treatment of induced vomiting, an IV, and constant monitoring and blood testing. The total cost was $1400. We put in a claim with Nationwide as this was the reason we got insurance to begin with - to cover these types of incidents. After providing all the medical records and invoices to Nationwide we received $290 for a claim of $1400. It would have been a better use of our money over the last 5 years to start a savings account for our dogs. It is clearly not worth the money to have pet insurance.

Made a horrible situation MUCH better
We recently had a horrible experience while boarding our puppy. We came home from a five day get away to an emaciated, severally dehydrated dog. When the Vet, who was amazing, called to tell me that poor Kona needed major surgery, my stomach went tight. After an initial panic about if my little fur daughter would ever be ok...the second set of panic set in regarding the cost of this procedure. Luckily, I had been holding a policy with Nationwide since we got Kona. I was able to say "yes" to everything the Vet had recommended to get my little girl back to the on her furry feet. Knowing that Nationwide would reimburse me such a high percentage of my out of my pocket expenses allowed me to focus on Kona recovering, instead of worrying about how I was going to pay this steep Vet bill. THANKS Nationwide!!

Glad we had insurance!
Our dog Jem recently needed spine surgery and insurance covered a good chunk of the cost! They even covered the cost of the MRI. Without the surgery Jem would have been paralyzed. She is doing much better now and is walking normal again. Thank you Nationwide!

Whole Pet plan beats its competition
It's working out great. Most plans wouldn't accept my kitten because she was rescued under 6 weeks old. Most plans has restrictions about what's covered and what's not covered on a visit. For example, for an emergency visit, some plans will cover everything except the office visit or dr. visit fee. Now, with Whole Pet, I don't have to worry about any of that. The plan covered 90% of the entire bill after a one time annual deductable of $100. Best of all, when compare to another popular plan that covered only accidental and major illness, Whole Pet covered everything for just a couple dollars more. I know my kitten won't need the insurance as much after the first year. It's the peace of mind I won't have to guess at future bills that's worth the most.

Very reliable and easy to process insurance claims
I have been a customer of Nationwide insurance since my dog is a puppy. Very easy to put in claims. Response time is excellent for an insurance company. Although my dog has had several minor problems (fortunately) this insurance has given me peace of mind each time I have had to visit my vet. Pet bills are extremely high today and with lthis insurance I need not worry that it will put me in a financial situation that I don't want, especially since I am a very senior citizen.

Peace of Mind
Recently Sophie had a growth inside her mouth Which we know we needed to get removed. The cost of doing so was nearly $1000 but we didn’t hesitate as I knew VPI would help cover the expense....and they did at over 80%! While it was cancerous, they got clean margins and she is is doing great! I love knowing I don’t have to make a choice between the health and well being of her verses the cost of the vet. Thank you VPI for peace of mind!

Extremely happy with the amount Pets Best paid
During my pet's spay, it was discovered she needed to have baby teeth pulled because adult teeth were in. She also had an unerupted tooth that needed some help coming thru. Pets Best paid more than I even anticipated they would because it was hard for me to try to separate out the various procedures. I did not have routine care for the spay, so some of this was covered and some was not. I was extremely happy with the amount Pets Best paid for this.
