Amazing service
Amazing service, helpful & informative. Always get a person on the line who can answer your questions & explain coverage. Glad to find the deductible is per illness for life of dogs not calendar year! I have paid for 10 years for 2 never submitting a claim. Wish I had called sooner. Kathy Pakiela

I will always have pet insurance.
I will always have pet insurance. I never want to be in a position to have to put a pet down because I can't afford treatment. I love my fur babies way too much.

I love Trupanion
I use Trupanion for all my pets, and have for years. They are very good, efficient at processing claims -- even complex ones. The customer service is awesome. Last year, I had a large claim for a 15.5 year old dog with multiple problems (new and chronic) and they processed it fairly and quickly. After that dog passed I got a puppy and they processed an emergency vet claim, quickly and they also answered my questions about coverage for a retained deciduous tooth. I ended up not needing the coverage for the tooth, because a day or two later it finally fell out. But they explained that the tooth would likely be covered, when typically dental is not covered, and why -- they cover extractions for unexpected types of events like accidents or a retained baby tooth when the adult tooth has already come in, but don't cover other types of dental care in my policy.

Overall I am extremely happy with Nationwide pet insurance
With the exception of the coverage for my dogs Hyperparathyroid being ridiculously low (full reimbursement of less than 800 for a 4000 surgery 2 years in a row) I have no complaints with Nationwide. I have been with them for the last 9 years and always receive reimbursement within 30 days and customer service is awesome! I have looked at competitors and while they are all relatively competitive I prefer the lower annual cost to other companies that have a higher annual cost with a reimbursement cap. I have both my dogs on Nationwide and I know my 10+ year old Ridgeback would not be with me still if I would not have had coverage. Helps get you through illness or injury if you know you can do the best for your fur-baby.

I have several dogs--Havanese, Shih tzu and Maltipoo
I love the coverage and have, thankfully, healthy dogs. It's great to know that expenses when/if they have something wrong are covered. I would love it if you provided even minimum coverage for office visits---perhaps more customers would protect their pets better, rather than wait till the pets are ill.

Helps me focus on my pet's health instead of vet bills
My cat, Cheese, recently ate a ribbon and needed a lot of medical care. I was SO thankful to have him covered by Healthy Paws! He had experienced some health difficulties previously, before I had him insured, and it was just awful. Every procedure I had to think about money, and it was terrible to be in the position of weighing the cost against my pet's life. I am a student, and I ended up spending literally all of my savings to pay for his care. This time when he was ill, I could just focus on making decisions that were best for Cheese, without having to worry that I would bankrupt myself in the process. I will agree with the negative reviews that the premiums do go up SUBSTANTIALLY each year. My pets are both still fairly young, so it's still worth it. Even if it gets to $100/month, I will probably continue the policies, just so that if/when they get sick, I can avoid worrying about money and focus on my pet's health. Also, I have had great experiences with customer service every time I've called. I don't think they are quite as responsive by email, but I've never had to wait on hold for a long time and everyone I've spoken to has been very helpful and friendly. I recommend Healthy Paws to all of my friends!
