Best Pet Insurance Ive encountered, too bad human insurance isn't as good!
I have to say up front, my wife handles all of the claim paperwork, but from I have seen it is very straight forward and much easier and simpler then the previous pet insurance we had, which is why we have stuck with VIP/ Nationwide. While the other insurance talks a good game, VIP, plays the insurance game to the benefit of the Pet and the owners. Our new puppy, coming in late September will be enrolled as soon as possible once we acquire her. For creatures that can not talk, or complain, they are treated like royalty by VIP, who really stand by what they say to get you to sign on with them.

I do recommend, all the time.
I do recommend, all the time. I am used to paying the premium every month, so I have it budgeted, and the Trupanion is a reputable company and its plan coverage is easy to understand and easy to use. The reason I buy health insurance is to pay for a POSSIBILITY of big treatments over time, like a savings account for medical care. I' make informed choices wisely using the medical insurance if the dog can be helped by a possible expensive treatment that I could otherwise not afford, meaning, I would have to put the dog down if I did not have insurance.

I love Trupanion and have been a client for 10 yrs.
I love Trupanion and have been a client for 10 yrs. I have 5 animals ensured which costs me almost $600. I would have given a 10/10 but the price of my pets policies is too high. I would like their to be bigger discounts for multi-family homes. These costs are huge barriers for other multi-pet owners.

I have saved money on procedures
Even though the premium has doubled (I guess because I was monthly bills greater than the premium) I have saved money on procedures and medication and have no problem taking my dog to a specialist.

Nothing was denied.
Nothing was denied. Our pet is so much a part of our family and the stress of not having to pay a lot for his care and give him a chance was so relieving

Healthy Paws Is The Best
I have an 11 year old poodle and had Healthy Paws pet insurance for the last 4 years. Prior to having this insurance, when my little Bella was very young she ended up breaking her leg due to an accident which I had to pay money out of pocket for. A year later, she ended up breaking the leg again due to inadequate healing. I spent probably over $4,000-5,000 for that whole ordeal. Ever since Bella was young I did have pet insurance for her such as ASPCA and Gopetplan. However, when she broke her leg there was a lapse in coverage. I just remember how much of a pain it was to process claims when I had to deal with those insurance companies. I looked into Healthy Paws and decided to enroll her just to be on the safe side. 4 years later, she developed diabetes and a sudden onset of cataracts which ultimately led to her going 100% blind. I contacted Healthy Paws right away and Caren W. walked me through the whole process for submitting a claim. Since I had Healthy Paws for 4 years, all I needed to submit were medical records of her condition prior to the claim. Her records did not show any signs of diabetes therefore Healthy Paws was able to cover her treatment at 90%. There are other tiers for her coverage but I chose the $100 deductible and reimbursement of 90%. Submitting claims are so easy! For each claim, all I submit is the invoice and proof that I paid. That is it! Healthy Paws never asks for any written records from her Vet or any other documentation. So far, Healthy Paws covers everything related to Bella's diabetes such as Vet visits, blood glucose curves, insulin, all the materials involved in managing Bella's diabetes. They even covered Bella's cataract surgery which costed over $4,000. Healthy Paws is amazing and the staff are all so warm and caring! I just only wish I signed up with Healthy Paws sooner! It is incredibly easy to submit claims and they literally process the claims within a day. It is amazing. Such a wonderful company! I believe that having pets is a huge responsibility. They are extensions of our family and it is up to us to care for them when they are in need. This includes when they get hurt or sick. It truly saddens me when people often resort to putting their animals down due to financial issues. Having medical insurance is extremely important for animals and humans alike. Paying monthly for health insurance may seem like an added expense but ultimately, it can mean life or death for our beloved animal friends. Please give Healthy Paws a chance, they are not about taking our money, they are about helping us and our pets.

Excellent customer service
Excellent customer service, fast reimbursements, however premiums are getting too expensive. I had to use a different company for the same level of coverage for my new puppy.

Great coverage, great service
First off, let me say I am very happy that you have made the process of filing a claim so much easier. I use the Vitus app and love it. It's easy to use and the basics are populated with the info I had to add only the first time. When I do call, which is rare now with the app, customer service is friendly and helpful. Great job! With vets and animal hospitals getting bigger, more sophisticated and the demand getting larger, the price for healthcare for our pets has increased. I've been without pet insurance and have had to deal with huge bills with my previous dog. She had cancer which required multiple surgeries and checkups. It would have been nice to have had help at the time. In my opinion it is well worth having insurance for my boxer dog Rocco. When I adopted Rocco I researched quite a few different insurers and options and thought Nationwide had the best options for me. I do not regret my decision one bit.

Somewhat disappointed
I submitted 2 claims on my boy. First claim was biopsy, lumpectomy ( which most) was covered. Almost 1 week later I received results tha my just 5 year old lab has Stage 2 cancer. Because they already paid the “ pre” testing the actual diagnosis wasn’t. I have the major medical plan which states actual d.x is a specific amount. Still have to return every 3 months to have lymph nodes checked. Very disappointed
