Easy Claim Filing along with Peace of Mind

I bought peace of mind when Dash the Dog came into my life eleven years ago. I didn't want to be faced with making a choice about animal care based on cost; these decisions, I'm afraid, are based on my heart, and I know that about myself. Pet insurance was the only option. So I did my research and bought coverage from Embrace. They make it easy to file a claim, respond quickly that the claim has been received, and even though Dash is an old dog, the insurance is affordable.

Proposed Rate Increase in Wellness Plan Leaves Bad Feelings

This is my 3rd dog insured through VPI and nationwide. Some weeks after renewing my policy, got letter in mail saying rates may go up for those in the Wellness plan. This is the most expensive policy you offer and you want to raise these rates?? You may be pricing yourselves out of customers. If rates go up, I may have to switch plans. You make the policy look very attractive to new customers but then want to raise rates after a year? The timeliness of notification of claim status is good but I just hope you don't price your policy out of reach for most people.

Good to have but not clear on what is covered. Disappointed in coverage.

Surprised on what is and what isn't covered for my dog. I feel like for the cost, not a lot is covered. Plus, I've hit my deductible and more reimbursement should be coming back to me. Takes a long time for claims to process.

Your company has been great so far in helping with his medical expenses. Thank you.

I have had no problems with any bill I have submitted. Health care for our pets is almost as expensive as that of people. Your company provides a valid opportunity for people to be able to own pets. Pets grow old just like people. I got Paco when he was 3 mo old and have had him insured since then; he is not 12 years old. I have only had to use his medical in the last year and a half. It has been good knowing that when he needs care, I don't have to sell my house to keep him in good health. If a person is going to own a pet, they need pet insurance. Your company has been great so far.

Avoid FIGO

We were covered by FIGO from July 2017 until July 2018. Prior to coverage effect we took our kitten to our vet for her first check-up and she was found healthy. We submitted the records to FIGO as required. During the first several months, they refused every claim for our 4 month old kitten asserting everything was a "pre-existing condition". By October 2017 I was fed-up, so I sent them a strongly worded letter where I explained in part: "Every insurance contract has an unwritten, invisible, or implied term referred to as the covenant or promise of good faith and fair dealing. This is a promise imposed by law upon an insurance company to always act fairly towards its insured in handling their claims…In my estimation the apparent failure to investigate my claims leading to the unwarranted denial of said claims is gross mismanagement needling dangerously close to the appearance of bad faith insurance practices." I then threatened to report them to our State Department of Insurance. After this, they paid my claims and I never heard from them again. They always paid every claim. (Suspicious action in my estimation. I believe they didn't want to have someone investigating their practices.) Now, here at the end of July (2018), it is time to renew our policy. They decided to increase our premium by 100 percent for an otherwise healthy 1 year old cat. They further did this with zero transparency. They sent an email out in June explaining "some states could potentially see a rate increase". They gave no information as to which states would see an increase or by what amount. They instructed us to log-in and see if we would be effected. We did and we were not. 3 weeks later, we still were not effected. Then today, when payment for the next year would be due, we found they increased the rate 100 percent. We are SO disgusted by this company and advise you strongly to avoid it like the plague!

Good first claim.

This is my first claim after transferring from another insurer in 2017 and I'm very happy with the outcome. Veterinary expenses tend to be higher here in California than in many other states so the flat-fee system I was under before did not provide nearly enough coverage. I like being able to customize my deductible and coverage level with Pets Best and the straightforward percent reimbursement.

Great insurance, pays as stated with no holdups

Great pet insurance, pays exactly how they state in policy with no hold ups or bs like other insurance companies. filling out and filing a claim form is extremely easy. The only thing I would change is the waiting time for each claim to be paid. 99% of the time they take between 25 and 29 days to pay a claim. When it's simple as annual blood work or routine exam you still have to wait almost 30 days.

It’s nice to have but kindve a waste of money

I like having help with his vet bills. Especially if anything unexpected were to happen. My issue is that it only reimburses me 90% and takes WEEKS to do so. I get that’s what I signed up for but for the kind of money the company is making off of me doesn’t even come close to what I pay a year for his bills. It’s a nice safety blanket and I’ve recommended several times to other people but how long it takes to come back and only getting 90% after I pay $250 deductible is turning out to be a waste of money. Rather just keep the medical and get rid of the wellness but I’m concerned that if something were to Happen then I wouldn’t be fully “covered” or something.
