Easy Enough

Overall, I'm happy with Nationwide Pet Insurance. I have the most expensive protection plan (My Pet Protection With Wellness), but so far it's nice because all medical expenses are covered at 90% and wellness at 100%. It's expensive, but I rather have the piece of mind. I lost my previous little boy almost a year ago and my previous plan (which was also with Nationwide) wasn't as extensive. The plan covered a lot, but the last hospital expenses were a bit hefty, so I don't want to deal with that again. It's enough dealing with the pain, so the last thing you want to do is deal with vet bills and haggle with an insurance company. The only thing that annoys me is that it takes a minimum of 30 days to process your claim. The first claim I had with my new rescue pup took about 3 months because Nationwide Pet Insurance wanted all the paperwork on his previous history. My vet's office kept sending it, but I guess they weren't sending it with the correct cover page, and it kept getting rejected. It was finally processed, but it did take a bit. It's hard to get a complete history on a rescue animal.

Excellent -- Top Notch! The Best!

We purchased Maxine's policy when she was a puppy. We have never regretted paying the premium. Good health for your pet is as important as it is for you! Our dog is a member of our family. We love her dearly and Nationwide has helped us so much. It is definitely worth the premium.

Prolongs pet's life

It has been 5 months since my dog Jolie started Cancer treatment 4 tumors, one inoperable. After two operations and 20 radiation treatments she is doing great. Yesterday she had her first chemo treatment, four more to go. Doctors have told us we should be able to prolong her life a couple of years or more, with proper follow up care. Pets Best has been great in every way throughout this ordeal. Every dog owner I meet I try to impress upon them the importance of Pet Insurance and my experience with Pets Best. It cost so little for you to be able to insure your pet gets the best treatment to save his or her life.

It’s A Luxury Item

From the lengthy claims process, to the cloaked underwriting process, I believe that this luxury item (as I was told by a customer service representative) is not worth what I pay. I thought I had selected an appropriate healthcare option for my dog, but after three weeks of waiting, and after being charged a deposit for a “luxury” product I couldn’t evaluate and willingly accept (because of the “underwriting” process), I felt slighted. It became even more apparent when our first few visits weren’t covered due to this lengthy “underwriting” period- despite the fact that I had been charged for a product I didn’t have. When I purchase car insurance, or health insurance, I know what I’m buying when I buy it. When I buy the “luxury product” that is pet insurance, I pay and then wait for the terms to emerge from a mysterious fog. Furthermore, when I am told that my “wellness plan” that I had only one option to select, and couldn’t upgrade until 1 year later, only covered a certain amount of visits. This is a pathetic product. I called to complain because this is a shady business practice and completely unhelpful to responsible pet owners. I was told that it is my prerogative to buy pet insurance because it is a luxury item. That to me was shocking and insulting. Pets aren’t jewelry, they aren’t a home, and they aren’t a car; and yet when I buy insurance for any of those other things, I’m guaranteed exactly what I expect. Coverage- plain and simple. Your luxury item is as poor as your attitude towards the life and wellness of my dog. I’m not recommending your product to anyone- and I am not going to continue paying for your services.

Cutting corners and not providing the same level of care as they use too.

I have had my dog enrolled in your most expensive whole pet wellness program since the time I got her two years ago and she was eight weeks old. For the past three years I have had a great experience with the amount of coverage I have received until now. I got a new puppy and signed up for the most expensive plan believing the most expensive plan was the same most expensive plan I had signed up for almost two years ago. I did not realize the coverage is very different than what I have been used too until I submitted my dogs bill for neutering and got no reimbursement. I was not expecting to have to take such a hard hit. I do not feel the amount I am paying per month for this plan is worth the coverage your new plan is providing. I also do not appreciate that this was not made transparent and that I had to read the fine print to be able to know the coverage is not the same. It is really disappointing to know that you have decided to cut corners by not giving dogs under one the same coverage that was offered a two years ago. I will be looking for another insurance provider for both of my dogs.

Expensive but we need it.

I don’t like the idea of prices going up every year , it is very expensive, but we have 3 dogs and we need it . Soon it will be so expensive I might as well pay it myself because I need the help because sometimes I don’t have the money to pay the bill but if I put the $560.00 a month away in the bank till I need it and probably save some money.

Ease of filing claims and helpful customer service

Plan coverage and price is very good compared to other providers. Claim filing is extremely easy through VitusVet app. Information in Explanation of Benefits is helpful to understand claim payment amount. Any time I do have to call in, which is rare, customer service is very helpful and always follows through on their follow up action.

Very good insurance

Nationwide Pet Insurance is a reasonable cost for good services. Easy to submit claims via the app on my phone and the reimbursement is deposited into my checking account automatically. We have 2 cats and 1 dog on the plans. Nationwide is better than any other pet insurance plan we have researched.

Excellent Pet Insurance, Worth the money

I have 5 pets all insured through ASPCA. Rates are reasonable and provides preventative coverage benefits. Most recently my youngest pet, Shelby became ill. Filing a claim with ASPCA online was very easy and I was reimbursed for my vet bill within a couple of weeks. Love this pet insurance.
