No Pre Certification
Our Jaxon needed a total hip Replacement. $20,000. Healthy Paws paid for all the tests leading up to the hospitalization and surgery. We have had Healthy Paws for our 2 dogs. For 5 years we paid premiums with No claims. My problem with the company was they would not commit to covering the Surgery/Hospitalization itself. This is a bad practice. We literally had to gamble on the fact that HP would cover it. HP made a very emotional time more Stressful. In the End they paid the claim and our Jaxon is recovering, thankfully.

It’s great that I can submit my forms by an app and get reimbursed in a timely manner. Charlie got sick, scared me so much. I knew I could take him to the emergency vet because I had insurance that would help pay for it. Peace of mind for sure!

Buyer beware
I used to like Healthy Paws, but in recent years I've felt exploited. They've doubled my premiums year over year, with the only alternatives offering significantly less coverage and/or higher deductibles. They also started charging ~3% credit card fees and increased my premium for moving just a few miles away within the same city. I just don't trust the company anymore.

Saved money when I switched to nationwide. Representative was very thorough on the phone and answered all my questions. However, I am not exactly sure if the review checked out. I have to call my bank to find out if the money was withdrawn.

It’s easy to file the claims
It’s easy to file the claims. I was able to reach my deductible quickly. I’m glad my cat’s medicine and prescription food are covered because they’re both expensive. I feel reassured that we’ll be able to manage with he has anything more serious happen.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend
Unfortunately, I have not always had the best experience with Pets Best. First I have two dogs and their premiums go up extremely high every year. Mind you I’ve had them since they were puppies and they’re now seven and nine. Submitting claims has been an issue now for over two months for the system is always down. Yesterday I even went as far as trying to email three times and I was told that the emails for claims currently being reviewed are backed up through October 31. Today is November 7. In addition reimbursement takes forever. They say it takes two weeks. I’ve actually waited on an average 6 to 8 weeks to be reimbursed and it gets very costly when you have two dogs that are going in and out of the vet for a vaccines for illnesses for wellness visits, etc. if my oldest dog didn’t have a pre-existing condition, I would definitely not go with Pets Best again.

Lifesaver
Metlife does a great job of ensuring we have a great experience. I can use the doctor I want, I get reimbursed 90%, and I love that they took on my pet after nationwide discontinued their plan. Metlife has been a true lifesaver for my pet! ❤️
