It's hard enough when your pet gets sick, never mind the unexpected medical bills. I hesitated so many years as to if I could afford a medical policy for my pet since I'm on a limited retirement income, But I am so happy that I decided to invest in a Trupanion policy.

Timely claims
This is the second claim we've had to file with Trupanion and each have been accepted and paid in a very timely manner. It has been a great relief to our family to have pet insurance and Trupanion is the only insurance we want for our dog.

This is better insurance than my own!!
Trupanion has been a blessing for me and my dog Betty-Lou many times over the last 2 years. I always thought insuring a pet was nuts, but when l bought a higher risk breed my vet convinced me it was the best way to go. So the day l brought her home....she was insured. And the piece of mind that monthly payment brings......is truly pricelesss. For the cost of taking my family out for pizza, Betty-Lou's life is literally protected. She recently had to have ACL surgery and there would have been no way l could have afforded it! I don't even want to think about what l would have had to do if l didn't have Trupanion! Everything was smooth, the surgery, her meds, all her aftercare xrays it all was and still is being covered. The only stress l had/have during this whole ordeal is keeping her entertained while she recovers!

So glad I was smart enough to insure my dogs with VPI/Nationwide!!
My male dog has been insured since he was 8 weeks old. He is now 12 years old and still insured. My female dog was a rescue at the age of 1 year and is now 11 years old. We have had numerous illnesses including mast cell cancer and each time, VPI/Nationwide has been there. Don’t wait until something happens!!! Insure your furbaby today!!

Best choice we've made
This is our third dog and first time with pet insurance. It has paid for itself these few years. I can't walk out of the vet without spending a minimum of $100, even for a well visit. The insurance has helped offset some of the cost for a priceless baby. I only wish that prescription dog food was covered. Since we have put our boy on prescription food, it has reduced our vet visits significantly.

Easy to submit claim but benefits are not great
Claims are easy to submit but there are a lot of limitations and restrictions on what is and is not covered. Additionally, there are a significant number of plan maximums in terms of coverage. Considering how much the plan costs, it should cover more.

My husband and I were so pleased to receive reimbursement checks for our little girl Millie who contracted an ear infection. The process was easy and stress free we are truly glad we invested in Trupanion even though our little girl is only 2 years old.
