Healthy Paws Pet Insurance is Truly There When You Need It!
When my husband and I decided to get a French Bulldog puppy, we know that we would need health insurance for him. Frenchies, although they appear to be hearty animals, can be prone to allergies and some other ailments. I did my homework and compared premiums and benefits of several different insurance companies. I chose Healthy Paws because of its ease of use and its reasonable reimbursement policy. My decision has proven to be a good one. In his two years, Herschel has had allergy testing and a few common illnesses. Healthy Paws reimbursed all of the visits except for routine wellness at 80%, Last week, Herschel unfortunately had a herniated disk, which required emergency surgery. Once again, Healthy Paws came through and quickly reimbursed 80% of the surgical costs and all of the exams medical care. We highly recommend Healthy Paws to any pet owner who wants the ability to provide needed medical care to his/her pet without worrying about the cost.

Best investment I've made for my dog!
After losing our 13 year old family pet and incurring many vet bills, when we were ready to adopt a new member to our family, I was curious to see if pet insurance would be worth the money. I opted for the Well Pet plan which is the most expensive but literally covers just about everything. We always meet the annual deductible and so by the end of the year, we have saved hundreds of dollars. I highly recommend Nationwide's Well Pet plan for anyone with a new puppy. Submitting claims is easy and turn-around time is very efficient. Give Nationwide a try. You won't be sorry.

Had my 8 month old shihtzu spayed, blood work done and puppy tooth removed while she was under anesthesia. I bought pets best insurance as I am totally union. Pets best paid for most of her vet bill and that was like a reimbursement of half the insurance. Bella is a very active little shihtzu and I'm so very happy to have her covered by pets best. I compared different pet insurances and pets best is the best choice. Sending in the bills and reimbursement was simple and speedy. Keep up the great work.

I had an absolutely awful experience.
I had an absolutely awful experience with this company. Just like most bad reviews of insurance companies, yes, this did center around a claim that was not paid out. I will not go over the exact details. But to summarize, my veterinarian took the time to write a full page letter stating that there was no way to test or diagnose my dog's ailment until he was 1 year or older. Therefore, there was no way to consider this a pre existing condition. There is a lot larger story to this. And while my goal at the time was just just meet my deductible for the year in case anything else happened, it came clear to me that any potential future submitted claims with this company would be a fight to get compensation. I decided to immediately cancel my plan, and look elsewhere for coverage. When I called to cancel my plan (there is no way to cancel plan through website), I was put on hold and transferred to a "specialist." I told her that I wanted to cancel my plan and had one question (it was in regards to timing of when plan coverage would end when I cancelled), Instead of cancelling plan, the lady pulled up my file and started arguing with my claim and what my veterinarian stated. She even had the audacity to say her vet told her something completely opposite. She went on to say that we wouldn't be covered on anything like this with another insurer (which is silly to say because of course we will not be. Since the ailment already happened, it is "pre-existing" and I know that those conditions are not covered, for obvious reasons). I let the lady go on, doing my best to not let my frustration get to me. When she said that she wanted to make sure "she" (referring to my dog) got the best coverage (my Dog's name is Roscoe), I corrected her, confirmed my coverage was cancelled and hung up the phone. If this is the way this company does business, NOBODY should give them theirs. I am more than happy to provide any more details on my terrible experience with Trupanion, whether that be sharing the email correspondence we've had, my vet's letter, etc. I just want people to know that they should look elsewhere to protect their furry loved ones.

Good/Easy Claim Service ... but expensive premiums.
My last claim was handled well, and the ability to file via email is great. However, I am at a point that I may not be renewing in the future. This is the second time I had your insurance (two dogs) for about 15 years. But, due to increases in premiums over the years it has become a much larger potion of my retirement income.

Healthy Paws was suggested at my work initially. We were not familiar with pet insurance never searched for one. We signed up and started using it. In the second year our dog needed major leg surgery that cost over $ 4.000. Having insurance made it so much easier, we were able to concentrate on the well being of our dog without stressing about the cost. They even covered hydrotherapy after surgery. There were years when we paid more in insurance premiums then what we used but there were also years where they paid us way more then we paid. A monthly premium gives us the peace of mind that we do not compromise about our dog's healthcare because of the cost. Healthy paws customer service is 5 star, they even checked with us how our dog was doing after surgery. Payments are quick and always hassle free. We did not try another insurance because we have a good experience with our current one.
