My dog, Ranger, had to have close to a $5k Surgery this October. As a recent college graduate, there was no way I could’ve afforded that surgery on my own! Thank goodness for Nationwide Pet insurance!! I received 90% reimbursement nearly 2 days after I submitted the claim. WOW!

Pre-existing condition policy is ridiculous
I got pet insurance thinking it would benefit my animal in the instance it got sick, for shots, etc....the first claim I made my dog was sick and had diarrhea and was throwing up. They did everything they could to insure they did not pay out the claim and kept telling me it was a pre-existing condition all because the vet put into their system a false note saying my dog had this condition his entire life basically. In trying to correct it and sending my pets history to them, they sent me another letter talking about something entirely different such as his teeth condition being the cause and mentioning how that is also not covered and is pre-existing. When you pay for the best coverage every month, and I take my dog in for having symptoms, just like a human (we can all suddenly get sick) and they refuse to cover me is ridiculous. I cancelled my policy completely. I am not paying out $60 per month to fight with getting claims paid and for them to consistently come at me with pre-existing explanations. I can put that money aside every month in my own account and use that to pay for his needs. I feel like I have wasted my money.

I recommend Trupanion to everyone I know who has a pet. Over the last 11 years you have taken care of our pets needs so well, and saved us so much money! Because of having Trupanion Insurance, our sweet boy with a heart condition was able to live 2 years and 3 months past being diagnosed. The yearly testing, and the daily medications made all the difference in the world, and having to pay only 10% of that cost made it so affordable. Also, the thoughtful card we received, after he passed, meant the world to us. I truly cannot imagine having a pet and not having this wonderful insurance to make sure we are able to give them the best care possible.

Trupanion saved me over $2000
My partner and I spent a very scary weekend in the veterinary emergency room with our cat. He needed oxygen, medicine, his lungs drained, and a lot of other attention. The whole trip ended up costing about $3500, but Trupanion paid over half (and the cat is doing a lot better).

You guys have been wonderful to me and I really appreciate it. My only complaint is the monthly premium I thought was high in the beginning and now you just raised it about About $10 a month. I've been meaning to call to ask about that.
