Not enough reimbursement for older dogs, extreme increase in premium price when your beloved dog needs the most care .
We have been pretty satisfied with our insurance while our dogs were younger, but the increase in the new premium for our dog turning 15 years old this year has left us speechless and disappointed. The minimal reimbursement for his ongoing conditions is unacceptable. Also, the reimbursement for the ACL surgery of our younger whippet was extremely low, and the $0 allowance for the physical therapy he needed very unfair. We will have paid over $ 54,000 for both of our dogs over the 15 years of their lives, and we were hoping for more allowance from Nationwide as they age. We will discontinue coverage and place the premium amounts on a savings account for the next 5 or 6 years. Live and learn!

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Trupanion. I tell anyone with pets to have the coverage. I was so overjoyed when my dog's recent surgery was mostly covered before I even had to pay anything. As a single mom this was such a blessing. It makes me so happy to be able to care for my fur baby the way he deserves.

So worth the premium!
We bought this for our puppy after losing our beloved dog who was diagnosed with a progressive terminal disease. We spent a fortune on him and he only survived 9 months. So I took a chance a bought this policy thinking "what are the odds we'd get another dog that would get sick?" Well it happened. It's a blessing we purchased this, his vet Bill's are high and he will see a specialist for the rest of his life. He was only 2 when he was diagnosed and is 4 now and doing alright. Well worth the monthly premium.

Our GSD developed an ACL problem that required two surgeries in 3 months,totally unexpected and NATIONWIDE PAID 90% OF THE 8,000 CLAIM WITHIN TWO WEEKS.We cannot imagine what we would have done without. insurance.Our boy THOR is now running with his brother and sister.

Terrible experience with a claim after 6 years of wasted money
After over six years of paying for my pet insurance I had the need to file a claim of almost $1000 due to injury and they only reimbursed about $160, I thought it was a mistake and called customer service and they said there was indeed an error and reimbursed $14 dollars more...seriously? I thought it was a joke. They obviously don't care once the pet gets older and that way they can get rid of the pet once they start having issues. I wish I didn't wasted all that money for so many years. They use excuses not to pay 90% reimbursement minus deductible as promised. Consider other insurance such as Embrace who are more honest.
