So happy with my service!
My dog, Moose, required emergency surgery last month. Submitting my claim to Nationwide was simple (I used the VitusVet app). They covered the majority of my claim. I think I only paid about $80 of my $630 vet bill when it was all said and done. Not only that, they sent an email to check in on Moose a few weeks later. I’m very happy with my service and will continue to use Nationwide.

Avoid this insurance company
Do not select this company. They used to be a decent pet insurance company but have failed to measure up anymore. My dog was diagnosed with a condition of his gums which is akin to an autoimmune immune disease and my vet recommended an emergency dental cleaning to remove the plaque and bacteria from his gums as it was causing ulcers on his gums. I then have to brush his teeth daily, use dental wipes and dental chews. They refused to cover the vet required dental cleaning as their policy is not to pay for cleanings no matter what the condition. They are across the board on this. This is going to be a lifelong condition for him so no cure. They don’t care about the condition except it’s their policy. Also they pay less when they cover a bill, apply the reimbursement level and then subtract the deductible. You get less if a reimbursement from them. They used to be a decent company but not any more. I got a new puppy and decided this was not the pet insurance I wanted for her. So disappointed in this company. They have gone downhill.

Best Pet Insurance
I like Nationwide Pet Insurance. The people are very friendly and helpful when you call them. They are always concerned about Taylor. I feel they are the best insurance around. I've had 2 different pet insurance companies with my past 2 dogs and they are more expensive and had more restrictions than Nationwide. Nationwide is on your side!

1st set of claims, slow and disappointed
It took longer than I expected to get the refund. In addition, I realized that the coverage was not as good as I thought it was. I may change policies after I further research coverage from other insurance companies. I was disappointed.

I had extenuating circumstances in my claim over which I had no control.
I had extenuating circumstances in my claim over which I had no control. For example I needed to call poison control and pay 75$ or the vet wouldn't treat my dog. I also had to go to a second vet because the first one charged 275$ for an exam but didn't have the needed medication so they referred me to another vet that had the medication she needed but they too charged for an exam. I ended up paying for two exams plus the poison control which I had to do or my dog wouldn't be treated. So out of a 700$ bill I got $144 back. That seems very unfair and unreasonable to me, especially since our premiums just went up. I don't think we should pay out of pocket for two exams AND the poison control. I don't see any recourse at this point.
