Love Trupanion, they make decision making for my pet so easy by taking money out of the equation. When my cat recently needed a feeding tube placed I had nothing holding me back from making the call to move forward. Will absolutely recommend to any pet owner!

Insurance when you really need it.
I got Trupanion pet insurance when my dog was 6 weeks old. Before he was even a year old I used the pet insurance to save his life. I wouldn't have been able to afford the care he needed and I would have had to let him go... Since then Trupanion has helped him recover from several accidents and, now that he's getting older, Trupanion is helping grow old without pain. I recommend everyone that has a pet that they love get Trupanion insurance. Read the fine print on the policy, it doesn't cover everything, but when you really need the coverage it is there.

A bit disappointed.
I'm disappointed that by proactively obtaining insurance for a rescue animal, who came to me with an issue that I considered needing attention by a veterinarian, I now am unable to have any of the following treatment any similar condition to that reimbursed. "Itching" could cover a myriad of conditions and not be the same condition that the animal was initially seen for. So, any new itching, scratching or allergy is not reimbursable, which I find a little extreme, given that dogs scratch. I now wonder if having pet insurance that does not cover any new incident or coverage of a following similar incident is worth it at all. I obtained my animal from a rescue on 12/1/19. I proactively obtained your insurance policy. I scheduled an exam for him the following week because he had not previously been on flea/tick/heartworm preventative medicine, and had a couple irritated spots I thought should be looked at. Given the probationary period of this policy, I should have waited another 30 days to bring him to be seen, and let him scratch, so as to have that incident covered and any future incidents of scratching be covered. I've had several animals and this was the first I obtained insurance for. My other pets have lived between 11-16 years with (thankfully) no major expenses. I'm wondering now if that's the route I should have taken with this one, as so far, nothing has been reimbursed.
