You Never Know!

I thought I would never need pet insurance as my dog was very healthy! But this winter I found myself needing to put in many claims. My dog has had problems with recovery and in spite of wonderful care from his vet I needed to have many visits. Thanks so much for the pleasant people at Embrace Insurance who helped me with the process I am so glad I have them! Pre-existing conditions are an unfortunate reality with pet insurance but knowing that and shopping around I am very glad I choose Embrace!

Great Company

I work with a lot of pet insurance companies through work and decided on Pets Plus Us. They have had great service, very reliable. I've never had a claim that I thought was wrongly denied. I find their prices reasonable compared to other companies. I like that they pay for exam fees, and rehab. I also love their underwriting service where they will tell you exactly what is pre-existing and not covered based on your pet's medical history. And if the coverage isn't to your liking, you can easily cancel before you even get charged. Customer service has always been great.

Grateful Dog Parent

Have been insured for more than ten years. In the last few my Yorkie has a several medical emergencies. My claims are quickly processed and paid. So grateful for this service and frequently asked other dog owners if they are insured if the topic of health arises because I believe it is an important part of pet ownership. I recently needed to call about an issue accessing for account online and the woman I spoke to couldn’t have been nicer. So high marks from thus far. I am an ambassador ( non-compensated) for Embrace because of the service they provide.

Stay away...every other pet insurance company is probably better

I added a policy with the ASPCA and thought with their new policies that it was a good choice. That couldn't be further from the truth, and I have already cancelled after less than 24 hours. They called to "welcome" me to the ASPCA and I proceeded to ask them questions regarding pre-existing conditions. The representative told me that anything even not diagnosed would be considered pre-existing. I asked then, since I had a situation where a dog was diagnosed with hip dysplasia after being x-rayed for a knee problem, how I could know all of the issues my dogs had when that dog didn't have symptoms. Keep in mind that I was clear during the conversation that the dog I asked about had an accident only policy and wouldn't qualify for illness coverage. The rep then tells me they record these calls and they would refer back to this call AND review the medical records to determine if my dogs had pre-existing conditions. Her tone was accusatory and it certainly seemed like a threat to me. They refuse to review medical records and tell me what was considered pre-existing, and she just told me I could get a quote from the vet and submit it to see if I was covered. I told her I wouldn't even have anything to submit when my two dogs covered by illness and hereditary conditions didn't have issues. They indicate these calls are recorded for quality assurance when they call you or you call them. Quality is not the reason for the recording, it is to try to get out of paying in the future Which by the way makes no sense, because my dogs I was going to insure were fairly healthy. They lost out on insuring three pets that are fairly young for life. and you should be VERY careful dealing with this business. Don't let the nice reps fool you, this lady was sickeningly nice before her threat during the call.

Exam Fee Coverage

As you can see from my files, I just lost my one cat due to bladder problems, and now that her sister has the same problem, it very much upsets me that each time I have to take her in for an emergency type exam to see what's happening, I have to pay the $85.00 exam charge, each and every time, which has been twice already in the past couple of weeks, just for the surviving sister alone. I totally understand that exams are not covered for yearly checkups, needles, or for any non-threatening reason, but when your pet has to be rushed in for something you already have noted on her file that she suffers from, it doesn't seem fair to the pet owner, to pay out-of-pocket for this exam charge EACH AND EVERYTIME, which in my case could be a weekly occurrence. I purchased the most amount of insurance I could in order to have what I thought, would cover anything that comes along; ESPECIALLY EMERGENCIES FOR DIAGNOSED CONDITIONS. I'm on an old-age pension that doesn't go far, and this frequent additional $ 85.00 exam charge that can unexpectedly pop up anytime with her, will mean some staple I will have to go without. I don't think this is fair; especially when I adopted these two as kittens, saving them from being put to sleep due to the over population of cats. Rescued animals, or animals living with life-threatening conditions SHOULD BE COVERED.
