Updated Review
This is an amendment to my previous review. My pet was ill and had an expensive surgery and Pets Best closed the claim after a month with no notification or documentation. I had been unable to contact anyone at Customer Service for days. Finally, I got a rep on the phone and she explained everything. I will be getting the claim paid, however "closed" is was they use as status for higher paying claims that have a brief wait period after processing. I am happy my claim is being paid and happy I finally got an explanation. Besides this gaffe, overall, I had been highly satisfied with this company. I give them 8 out of 10 stars. One deduction for putting up a confusing status with no explanation, and another deduction for the customer service wait times. I understand it is a Pandemic and I want the employees here (and everywhere) to be safe but it would more convenient for them to telework or do something else that made the operations flow run more smoothly. It's frustrating for a customer to have to wait over an hour on hold or have the customer service lines drop calls after being on hold for long amount of time. It's probably equally frustrating for the service reps.

So happy we had them when my puppy had emergency surgery!
My 5 month old puppy ate a sock and needed emergency surgery, and we're SO glad we had healthy paws. He was only 15 days into his active period when he got sick, and they reviewed his full medical history, surgical history, and had a direct deposit for 90% of our costs within two weeks of surgery. I spoke with customer service twice because this was our first claim and I had questions and forgot to upload some required documents, and both times they had the sweetest reps working and helped me out to get our records corrected. It was obviously a stressful experience, but they made it so much easier! Absolutely recommend!

Awesome
My dog just had two operations on his back, one in July and one in October. It has been a very stressful time. I did not have the worry about the money because Trupanion reviewed my claims and paid out very quickly. Thankyou Trupanion.

Torn ACL - covered!
My dog has fortunately been very healthy so far, but recently tore her ACL chasing a deer. I did intensive research and eliminated the common but extremely painful and controversial TPLO/TTA surgery types (where they cut and alter leg bones) in favor of a less painful - but more expensive - procedure called QLF from a Mass. specialist.. This is really important because the QLF is more expensive up front but has a much lower chance of causing injury to the other knee/leg. I decided that even if, for some crazy reason, it was not covered, it was worth the extra expense (and travel). Success! QLF was still covered at the 90% Trumpanion that promises. My dog is recovering well. Another reason why it is so important to have dog health insurance is that, most people may not be able to afford a $5000 knee surgery for their dog. Their dog will then limp their way through life, and end up with other injuries and serious arthritis due to the unstable gait they are forced to live with - which causes yet more expenses. By having health insurance, this stops one bad injury from turning into 3,4 or 5 others. Very happy customer.

Pets Best Closed My Claim without Explanation
My dog was sick and I got bloodwork done, which led to a major surgery having to be performed. Pets Best took over a month to process my claim. Then it was "closed". There was no notification or explanation...it's as if it never existed. I have tried to call multiple times for assistance and the phone is never answered, even after waiting a literal hour on hold. The excuse is, they have limited staffing due to the Pandemic. Everyone is in the Pandemic...not just Pets Best. Everyone else has either returned to work or worked from home. I can't get any assistance but whoever collects premium payments every month is definitely on the job. I am going to file both a federal consumer and BBB complaint just to get an explanation.

So far, so good
We’ve never had pet insurance until we got our Danes last year. So far, I’m happy with our experience. My first claim took a while to be process, and it took me a long time to get through on the phone, but my second claim was process within a week and deposited within 2 days.

Extraordinary customer service
Signing up for Healthy Paws Insurance was the best thing we could have done when adopting our puppy. They customer service has been outstanding. They process claims quickly and even followed up after my dogs recent surgery to see how she was doing. I Highly recommend Healthy Paws.

Excellent customer service
I am submitting claims at least 2 times if not more per month because my dog has cancer. Trupanion has been supportive, compassionate, and filing claims is very easy. They also process claims quickly. This certainly helps during this stressful and sad time.

Great Service!
We have had Trupanion since Stella was a puppy. Now at 5 years old we have had to use it for the first time. SUPER easy, responsive, no delays, paid directly to vet, great coverage and great experience all the way around! Thank you Trupanion!

Customer service was great but I've dealt with them before and there seems to be disconnect between the claims team and the CS reps.
Customer service was great but I've dealt with them before and there seems to be disconnect between the claims team and the CS reps. Typically we get very little new information and then have to wait again for the claim to be resubmitted, then wait for them to analyze it, and them get denied for some reason that is not entirely clear and the explanation on the claim is very terse but non informative. For example, we have twice (on two different invoices) been denied, citing "do not cover exam fees". The invoices state clearly in all caps that the treatment is "PHYSICAL THERAPY", for which we have coverage. This second go around, the CSR identified that it was miscategorized as "wellness care" instead of "physio"... on both invoices from separate dates.... twice. Hopefully they are able to analyze it properly this time as we're not paying for coverage for nothing and I've got about 50+ years of complaining left to do.
