I have a 12-year old dog who was adopted from a shelter. I got VPI insurance before she was a year old. The cost is low and for the first few years, I never submitted a claim. After she was about 6, I submit claims regularly and I am always satisfied with VPI's disposition of them. While you never get back 100% of what you pay, you get back a very reasonable amount based on the fees that should be charged for the services your pet received. I am also always satisfied with the time frame. While human health insurance takes FOREVER to resolve, with your insurance company literally fighting against reimbursements at all costs, VPI accepts your claim, figures out the rate, calculates the reimbursement and boom - a check arrives in the mail. It's honestly the only insurance policy with which I'm completely satisfied.
